“Really?” Caleb blinked.
He didn’t understand anything.
But he knew that as long as what he did made his mother happy and earned her praise, it was a
good thing.
Diana smiled as she caressed his face. “Caleb, you really hope Conrad becomes your daddy, don’t
you?”
He nodded happily.
Diana’s smile grew colder. “So you must win Conrad over and make him like you more, understand?”
He nodded. “I will!”
He paused. “But, Mommy, could you maybe…”
Deep down, Caleb didn’t dislike that aunt named Sonia at all. On the contrary, she smelled nice, and
when he had rudely stomped on her phone, her grip on his arm had been gentle–she hadn’t hurt
im at all.
She had that feeling described in children’s books as a “mommy.‘
He didn’t want to frame her anymore.
Diana’s cold voice interrupted his thoughts: “You want to make conditions with me? Caleb, if I can’t
narry Conrad, I’ll abandon you too and make you a homeless orphan with no father or mother. So
you must obey me, understand?”
Caleb shivered and swallowed the rest of his words, nodding fearfully.
As soon as Conrad arrived at the company, his assistant Hazel Eisen approached him: “Mr. Fairfax,

Mrs. Fairfax is waiting for you in your office.”
Conrad nodded and walked into his office.
His mother, Alisha, sat on the sofa, elegantly sipping her tea.
She looked up at the approaching figure and said: “I heard you arranged for that woman named Diana to work at Sonia’s company?”
Conrad loosened his tie and sat across from her on the sofa. “Did Sonia come to complain to you?”
Alisha set down her teacup heavily and said sharply: “Conrad, why do you always suspect your wife? Would Sonia be the type to betray you?”
Conrad showed a sarcastic smile. “She wouldn’t–after all, this is the status she schemed so hard to
obtain.”
“I haven’t forgotten how Sonia married into the Fairfax family, or how you forced me to marry her.”
Alisha’s expression darkened slightly, a flash of mockery crossing her face. “If she really came to complain to me, would that woman named Diana even have had the chance to return to the
country?”
Conrad fell silent for a moment, meeting Alisha’s gaze.
“Don’t touch her again,” he said.
Alisha laughed contemptuously. “She took ten million from me to leave you back then. What’s good about a woman who forgets loyalty for profit!”
“If you hadn’t meddled, would she have left?”
“You…” Alisha thought for a moment, then suddenly smiled and slowly stood up. “Conrad, you’re mistaking glass for diamonds. You’ll regret it someday. I won’t interfere in your and Sonia’s affairs anymore. If you want a divorce, handle it yourself.”
She walked out of the office.
Conrad frowned slightly. How could he possibly regret it?

Sonia had already obtained the wealth and glory she wanted. How could she be willing to give up everything she had worked so hard to gain?
No, she couldn’t and wouldn’t leave him.
