Chapter 5
Obviously, Conrad hadn’t expected her to bring up divorce. His expression instantly grew even darker.
“I won’t agree to a divorce.”
Sonia froze.
He was refusing the divorce? Could it be that…
He continued: “Grandmother wouldn’t agree to it either.”
With that, the door slammed shut.
Sonia stood there, her throat tight with emotion. She had actually harbored a glimmer of hope–how
foolish of her.
His refusal had nothing to do with her. It was entirely due to Victoria’s stance.
If he knew Victoria had already given her consent, he’d probably be eager to separate from her.
Then they would both be free.
Their argument led them to sleep in separate rooms that night. By the time morning came, before the housekeeper arrived, Conrad had already vanished.
Sonia ate breakfast alone, just like she had for most of the past six years.
When the housekeeper finished tidying up, she couldn’t help but ask: “Mrs. Fairfax, why are so many things missing from the house?”
Sonia paused.
Even the housekeeper had noticed the changes, yet he remained obliviously silent.
His indifference couldn’t be more obvious.

‘I sorted through some old belongings,” Sonia smiled gently. “Nothing important.”
The housekeeper didn’t press further.
Around noon, Sonia’s phone suddenly rang–an emergency call from the company’s network security director.
The entire network system was under severe attack by unknown hackers. Critical data was
paralyzed, and all security teams were at their wit’s end.
Only Sonia, as the company’s chief network consultant, had a chance to turn the situation around.
she rushed to the control center, where the screens were filled with dense code and warning signals.
The atmosphere was tense. Team members wore grave expressions, the mood oppressive. Diana
was among them.
While other staff members worked frantically to repair the system, Diana seemed out of place in the
Justling crowd.
She stared helplessly at the screen full of code. After realizing her skills weren’t up to solving the
problem, she had been raising her voice to direct others, but no one followed her instructions.
Someone shouted in frustration: “Enough! We’re busy enough already–stop creating more problems
with your stupid ideas!”
Diana’s face flushed red, but when Sonia arrived, all the technical staff turned to her like she was
heir savior.
‘Sonia, you’re here.” The technical director took a deep breath. “This attack is unprecedented. Ransomware has infiltrated the core database–we need to stop the spread immediately.”
Sonia studied the screen, calmly analyzing the anomalous data displayed.
‘Everyone, let’s coordinate. I’ll formulate a counterstrategy.”
Diana felt inexplicably irritated and asked: “Miss Coleman, can you really stop this cyberattack? One
wrong move and the company could lose millions, even tens of millions of dollars!”

“If I can’t do it, can you?”
Sonia’s words made Diana’s expression darken, but she couldn’t refute them.
“I’m going to deploy the latest defense algorithms now.”
Sonia’s fingers flew across the keyboard as she directed the other technical staff. “You need to quickly locate the hacker’s entry point and systematically seal every security vulnerability.”
The other technicians were ready and began operating under her command.
