Chapter 7
Sonia froze, staring at him in disbelief. “I was targeting her?”
So he had come to question her on Diana’s behalf.
“As your superior, she deserves your respect. You shouldn’t have humiliated her in front of everyone.”
Conrad spoke coldly, his tone purely professional, betraying no hint of any marital relationship between them.
Sharp pain shot through Sonia’s chest, but she forced a smile. “You haven’t forgotten that I’m the chief cybersecurity expert at this company, have you? Or do you think I don’t have that authority?”
“Do you know I have the power to remove you from that ‘expert‘ position?” Conrad shot back, his smile tinged with mockery.
These words hit her like blunt instruments, making her whole body tremble.
What a pity.
She had already submitted her resignation.
Whether he wanted to dismiss her no longer mattered.
Conrad warned her icily: “From now on, don’t ever…”
“If you want someone else to replace me, then go ahead, Mr. Fairfax,” she interrupted.
Conrad’s expression froze. He stared at her, his face darkening.
She only called him “Mr. Fairfax” in formal situations–never in private.
She had never been this cold to him before.
“What did you just call me?”

Chapter 7
“Mr. Fairfax,” Sonia replied calmly. “Isn’t that what you want?”
He frowned.
Before he could respond, a staff member rushed out: “Miss Coleman! Our client is arguing with Ms.
Eaton!”
Before Sonia could react, the man beside her strode away. She caught only a glimpse of his retreating figure.
Watching him hurry to Diana’s side, Sonia couldn’t help but laugh bitterly.
This was the first time she’d ever seen him look so anxious.
Someone was arguing heatedly with Diana, though no one knew why.
When Sonia arrived at the scene, she heard Diana’s anxious voice.
