Breakfast
Breakfast
Presley was feeling very nervous as she and Cruz entered the breakfast room of the hotel the next morning… She wasn’t sure where Ramona was lurking but she was quite certain, based on the way Cruz was complaining while she was in the shower how the woman was still at the resort.
Thired local security services,” Cruz told her as they took a seat. “There are two men sitting at the table next to us who are part of my security detall now. They will ensure Ramona doesn’t cause a scene. Unfortunately her parents can’t get here until tomorrow to collect her and bring her home.”
She leaned back as the hostess poured them each a cup of coffee and left them with the menu.
“We have four more days here before we go to Spain. I wonder if maybe we could get the itinerary changed?” “I already asked Anderson to look into it and no. The resort in Spain is packed solid. I tried to find a different one but it wasn’t near the same location and Sloane apparently told Anderson the place you picked has some kind of emotional connection for you so I don’t want to f**k it up. We’ll have to figure it out. We’ll go do some things off the resort today. I was thinking tomorrow though, maybe we can do a day in Saint Tropez”
“Sure.”
“You agreed really quickly.”
“I’m still feeling really guilty,” she admitted quietly.
“You should,” he said but then sighed, “though I forgive you.”
“You do?”
“I do. I’ve been an ass since coming. I shouldn’t have thrown out your dildos.”
“Why did you?”
“To piss you off partly but mostly because the thought you touching yourself when I’m right here made me
angry.”
“Really? You were attracted to me even before our smoking hot kiss on the swing?”
“The night you threw wine at me in the restaurant, my d**k was solid, especially when you called and got all sexy on the phone with the cop. I almost creamed my shorts.”
She giggled, “that makes me feel good.”
“Does it now?”
“It does.”
He reached across the table and held her hand, “I like you, Ladybird. Despite the little hiccup in the middle of it, I enjoyed myself with you yesterday.”
“Me too Cruz.”
“You told Sloane in your text message you were going to try to see where this could take us. Did you mean it?
“I did.”
Breakfast
I’m happy to hear this.”
The s**** chemistry is off the charts,” she admitted, “and then yesterday in Cannes, we actually didn’t argue a single time. We got along great. We seem to have a similar sense of humor and despite how jealous you get, I like hanging out with you. It freaks me out a bit though.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re Odin’s friend and I know you have drifted apart and I know you realize he’s a sack of crud now but I’m still a bit worried I’ll get hurt.”
“This isn’t a game, Presley. I’m not doing this as a prank, I meant what I said after dinner the other night. I want to see where this takes us.”
“Me too,” she nodded her agreement and then blurted out, I’m sorry for the book cover.” At his raised eyebrows, she amended, “I’m sorry I didn’t give you a heads up or explanation. I love the cover. I mean I love it. Its sexy and strong and everything I dreamed it could be.”
“A warning would have been nice.”
“I’m sorry for blindsiding you.”
“And the date?”
“Oh I’m not sorry for that,” she grinned at him.
“No?”
“Nope. I saved you. Her voice was nasally and like nails on a chalk board. Your d**k would have crawled up inside you to escape her the minute she started moaning your name in bed.”
He threw his head back and laughed at her words. “There is likely truth there. I did not enjoy her voice but ! can tune a lot out.”
“Baby!”
“Can you
tune that out?” she asked with a grunt as Ramona came into the breakfast room.
“It haunts me in my nightmares,” he made eye contact with the security agent who nodded and moved to address the woman who was frantically waving and calling for Cruz’s attention. “Maybe we should get breakfast elsewhere.”
“No.” Presley shook her head. “If we run every time she comes into a room, it’s giving into her craziness, ordered the eggs Benedict here my first day and I want them again.”
“They were good?” he tried to ignore the wailing from the woman near the entrance of the room.
oman screamed across the room. “Holy s**t, Cruz, is she
“To die for.” She swallowed her nerves as the woman always like this?”
“At least today she has clothing on.” He shook his head, “I found out after we broke up about a month before she asked me about setting a date for the wedding she stopped taking her medication for a mental illness I didn’t know she even suffered from. She was always quirky and loud. I mean, I told you she proposed, right? Then she stopped her meds and within six weeks of coming off them, she was a nightmare. Her parents try to keep her medicated but she is clearly off them again.”
“It’s kind of sad.”
Breakfast
“All my sympathy is gone.” He made a face as the hotel security started to drag her out of the room. “The thing is, I know she can be a normal decent human being. She is making conscious decisions to ignore her medical condition and to take appropriate treatment. When you’re on the receiving end of one–thousand phones calls in one single day, you start to lose your empathy.”
“A thousand? You didn’t block her?”
“She would call me from multiple numbers. She called my work cell, my personal cell, my office number, my admin assistant and the list goes on and on. The building in Toronto, I rented my office space there. She called the switchboard over five hundred times in an eight–hour day”
“It takes a lot of dedication to do such a thing”
“It takes something.” he grimaced. He looked up at the server who came back to take their orders, “my fiancée tells me the eggs Benedict are to die for. I’ll have those.”
“Same,” Presley ordered, “but can we get the little bread basket with the pastries and some fresh fruit as well?”
The server nodded and walked away.
“Hungry this morning?” he teased her. “I take it you worked up an appetite.”
“I really did” She smirked back, “1 easily burned all the calories I ate the last three days last night.”
“You took your punishment like a champ,” he shifted in his seat. Thinking of it right now and I’m getting
hard.
“How is it possible?” she questioned incredulously, “Cruz, I almost asked for a piggy back down here this morning because my legs feel like rubber but then realized I’d have to spread them and my hoo–ha feels
battered.”
“I’ll kiss it better later,” he winked at her as he lifted his coffee cup.
“Like hell,” she made wide eyes. “I need to go swimming in the ocean and then soak in the Jacuzzi and then I need to rest. Maybe tomorrow.”
He chuckled at her words, “we can do all of those things if you wish.”
“Good morning!” a happy Paris called out as she approached their table. “Presley and Cruz. How are you today?”
“We’re great, Paris. You?” Presley smiled as the woman and her husband took the table next to them.
“We didn’t see you around yesterday or last evening. I hope we didn’t scare you off.” Paris made wide eyes at
her.
“No. We went to Cannes for the day.”
“Did you go dancing last night in Cannes?”
“No we actually,” Cruz spoke up, “spent an entire evening in bed. We got back from our day out and decided to spend a night doing nothing but being alone.”
“How wonderful,” Paris’s husband spoke up. Presley couldn’t remember his name but there was no way she was asking. “Paris and I went to a local discotheque. We danced the night away.”
“Where are your friends?” Presley rubbed her shin when Cruz kicked it.

Breakfast
“Oh, well, we told them we needed to put some space between us for a couple of days. They were blatantly Ignoring the rules we’d set out. We have very firm rules on consent, not just you know doing things to one another but also respecting our partners. When we don’t ask one another if we’re okay initiating with another Individual it makes things uncomfortable. I suggested they spend the day reconnecting together.” Paris sighed dramatically. Tm sure you can appreciate how difficult it might be to not set clear boundaries and
rules.”
“Absolutely.”
“What are your plans today?”
Presley could almost hear Cruz screaming in her head to not tell them what they were doing. “We were talking about Saint Tropez. We’re not sure yet. I’m really sore today after all the exploring yesterday.” She shot Cruz a grin and his smirk back was wicked.
“Did you travel Cannes on foot?”
“We did.”
“Have you and Cruz ever switched partners?” Paris boldly asked.
“No.” She shook her head. “I’m very satisfied with Cruz and have never felt the need to go looking for more outside our bedroom. Cruz is also an incredibly jealous man. Yesterday he almost beat up a painter who tried to get me to pose for him.”
“Babe, he was on the ground checking out your ass while wiping drool off his face.”
“You scared the s**t out of him.”
Cruz grinned wickedly. “I did. I don’t share well. The notion of another man touching what is mine makes me want to rip limbs from bodies.” He gave pointed glances to the other couple, “I played for Team Canada’s Rugby teams in the Olympics. I once tore an ear off a guy in a scrum.”
Paris’s husband blanched but Paris merely smiled wider.
“You don’t like men touching what is yours but what about women?”
“I’m not sexist,” Cruz said coldly. “Equal rights and the like. I’ll rip limbs from whoever tries to take my girl from me. Now we don’t mind being friendly and chatty but if you’re going to continue to try to pressure my fiancée into having s*x with the two of you, we’re going to have trouble. You won’t like it when I bring the trouble to your door.”
“I apologize,” Paris said blinking at the tone Cruz was giving off.
For her part, Presley was seeing for the first time what made this man a hell of a businessman and CEO and she shuddered with an awareness of his power. This was why he was a billionaire. No nonsense. Blunt. Cold Matter–of–fact. It was sexy as hell.
“What are you thinking. Ladybird?” Cruz asked her when Paris and her husband began perusing their menus and talking quietly to one another.
“I’m thinking there is a whole genre of romance novel I’ve not written yet and I’m suddenly very inspired.”
“That is?”
“Billionaire bosses.”
+ Breakfast
At her words he started laughing loudly and soon she was joining in. Tm glad I inspire you.”
Presley decided she was ready to be inspired in all of his ways.
