“Do you think just any woman can marry into the Lambert family? You should feel lucky. Don’t be so ungrateful!“[]

Years ago, she had accompanied Dwayne through those dark days and had risked everything to get him out. The Lambert family
owned her, which was the only reason she was this lucky.
Suddenly, she let out a laugh, her eyes bloodshot. “Dad, I don’t get it. I’m your daughter. How come you only care about Rogelio?]
“You asked me to come back because of him, right? Spare me the whole ‘I wanna have dinner with you‘ story. Just tell me you want me to ask for more money from Dwayne.[]
“I know anything related to Rogelio means the world to you, while I mean nothing. Go on and tell me I’m wrong!”
Bryson choked up at her words and averted his gaze, not daring to look her in the eye. “Rogelio is your younger brother. What’s wrong with helping you brother out?“]
Dorothy tried her best not to cry. “It’s your duty to raise him, not mine.“[]
“You…” In exasperation, Bryson raised his hand.[]
She lifted her chin. “Go ahead!“]]
Trembling in anger, Bryson didn’t slap her again.[]
“Calm down, Bryson.” Gianna finally came back to her senses and pulled Bryson aside. Then she walked over to Dorothy and said, “Dottie, don’t upset Bryson anymore. Rogelio is in real trouble this time–he’s in custody now. Bryson and I figured that maybe you can talk to Dwayne and ask him to pull some strings to get Rogelio out.“[]
Dorothy’s last trace of hope in them was gone.]]
Even at this point, all they cared about was still Rogelio.
