Dwayne stopped outside Dorothy’s office, and a nurse happened to come out of her office, “Mr. Lambert.”
The nurse greeted cautiously, then quickened her pace and left.
Dorothy raised her eyelids and glanced at him, “I’m busy unless it’s about discussing divorce with me.”
Divorce? Dwayne’s expression turned serious. “When did I ever say I wanted a divorce?”
She was stunned.
Hasn’t he read the divorce agreement yet?
It’s me who wants to leave, Dorothy leaned back, crossed her arms behind her body, “I sent the agreement to your company yesterday, didn’t you see it?”
Dwayne gazed at her, a faint smile playing on his lips, but there was also a dark and eerie look in his eyes.
“I did not agree to the divorce.”
“Then I had no choice but to sue.”
“What reason?”
Dwayne stood in front of her, bent down, looking down at her from a height, “Dorothy, on what grounds are you suing for divorce? Do you think I cheated, or is it because of that so–called illegitimate child in your mouth?”
Dorothy faced his face, which was close at hand, exceptionally calm, without any ripples, “What’s the point of keeping a loveless marriage that doesn’t end?”
Dwayne remained silent.
Dorothy caught a glimpse of a figure passing by the door, reaching out to straighten Dwayne’s tie, “Mr. Lambert wouldn’t happen to be reluctant to divorce me, would he?”
She raised her eyebrows slightly, with a clear smile on her face, but there was no trace of a smile in her eyes, “Really? Could it be that Mr. Lambert has fallen in love with me? Otherwise, why would he be so persistent?”
Dwayne gently cupped her face in his palm and in that moment of touch, a hint of coldness flashed in his eyes, “Dorothy, do you know that your smile is very fake.”
He didn’t like her “smile” like that.
It made him feel dazzling.
She shouldn’t have been like this.
Dorothy’s smile gradually disappeared inch by inch, until it was completely gone, as a voice that only he and she could hear said, “Because you only deserve hypocrisy.”
