Sibyl secretly fiddled with her fingers in her lap, she had felt Keshton’s eyes on her ever since she got into his car and they drove out of the Lunar Moon Pack territory. It was the first time she had been in his car, and the silence was nerve–wracking. It wasn’t like this was the first time she was alone with him–they had been alone in her apartment and even slept under the same blanket. But after he hugged her in front of so many people and held her hand, her heart no longer beat normally. She had clearly used him to gain entry into Lunar Moon territory and to get a chance to meet the King’s council, but his statement that she was the woman he was protecting still made her heart race. After getting into his car, she avoided looking at him, and neither of them spoke, but his continuous stare kept her heart from calming down. “You can drop me there,” she said, pointing at the bus stop in the distance. Keshton glanced at the deserted bus stop and the creepy darkness surrounding it. “Why there?” he asked. “I’ll take the bus home,” she explained, glancing down at her watch. It wasn’t yet ten, so she expected to catch the last bus to the next city. “I’ll drive you home,” Keshton remarked, driving past the bus stop. Sibyl tore her gaze away from her watch and glanced at him. He was willing to drop her off at home even though her apartment was in the completely opposite direction of his pack? He had already helped her alot and if she let him drop her off at home she would feel dependent on him and like a burden. She cleared her throat and spoke, “You don’t need to drive me home. Just drop me at the next bus stop. I have to stop somewhere to buy dinner,” she explained. Keshton didn’t answer. Instead, he drove past the next bus stop, earning a confused stare from Sibyl. “It’s dangerous to take a bus at this time of night. Just tell me when you want me to stop the car,” he said, locking eyes with her. ‘Is he worried for me?‘ Sibyl’s heart gave a slight flutter at the look in his eyes, but she quickly looked away before she misinterpreted it. Facing the window, she closed her eyes for a moment to control her overthinking. Why would he care about her? Soon, the car entered the next city while Sibyl silently bid farewell to the city that had once been home of her old pack, where she grew up, and then coincidentally also the home of Edwin’s pack. This city held all the good and bad memories of her life. It was there that she lost a lot of things in life: her eyes, her fertility and her soulmate. Now she never planned to return to this city again in her life. Everything ended there. Keshton noticed her looking at the city through the rearview mirror with sad eyes. Does she miss him?‘ he thought to himself, his nails subconsciously scratching the steering wheel slightly. Frowning, he looked straight ahead and sped the car into the city. Sibyl tilted her head to look at him, only to sense his aura changing. “What’s wrong with him?” she wondered for a moment before realizing she had not thanked him yet. “Umm… Thank….” “Does your head hurt?” Sibyl and Keshton spoke at the same time and paused. “Were you saying something?” he asked. Sibyl shook her head. “No, it doesn’t hurt anymore,” she replied, rolling down the window. The weather was oddly gloomy, and after some time, it started thundering and lightning. Sibyl poked her head out to get a good look at the street ahead, where she spotted a familiar place. “Stop the car there,” she pointed at a place across the street. Keshton slowed the car, noticing the shop was actually closed. Once he stopped the car, Sibyl quickly got out, “I will be back in a minute.” Keshton grabbed her hand before she could run, “Where are you going? The shop is closed.” “Yes, but I am not going to the shop. I am going to that stall,” she explained. Keshton slowly let her hand go. There were no vehicles passing by so she crossed the road quickly. “It smells so delicious, Kaha. Please give me two, no three sweet potatoes,” Sibyl smiled quickly. “Sibyl, you came just in time. I was about to close the shop,” the woman roasting sweet potatoes smiled. “Why so early?” Sibyl blinked. “Someone complained about my stall. So I have to remove the shop before petrol police come,” Kaha smiled, quickly packing the sweet potatoes in a paper bag. Sibyl easily looked through her painful smile. Kaha was a young human woman, struggling to make ends meet. “Here are your sweet potatoes,” Kaha cheerfully stated, pulling Sibyl out of her thoughts.

Thanks,” Sibyl took the paper bag and started rummaging in her pocket for the money. “Hm? Where is my wallet?” she panicked, looking for it in every pocket. She could not risk losing her wallet or she would go starving until she found her next job. “Your wallet is at Eclipse Moon,” Keshton’s voice came from behind. Sibyl tilted her head up and to the side to find Keshton giving money to Kaha for the sweet potatoes. ‘Oh, yeah. I forgot it after changing my clothes in his packhouse,’ she recalled biting her lip and scolded herself for the stupidity. It was so embarrassing to make Keshton pay for her food. Kaha looked between Keshton and Sibyi as she accepted the money and then slyly whispered to Sibyl, “Your boyfriend?” Keshton heard Kaha’s whisper with his wolf hearing as Sibyl’s eyes widened, “No! He is not!” she exclaimed at Kaha and then immediately glanced at Keshton who stood there indifferently. How could Kaha have come up with that conclusion? Kaha grinned in response. Holding the paper bag, Sibyl looked at Keshton from the corner of her eye only to be startled by his amber eyes already looking at her. Caught off guard, she put her hand in the bag and started eating, forgetting the fact that it was… ‘s**t! It is freaking hot!‘ she screamed with her mouth full. Keshton studied her expression to save herself from the embarrassment where she kept a normal face even though her tongue was burning. “You must like sweet potatoes very much.” “Yes, I do!” Sibyl exclaimed, taking another bite, enduring the pain. Keshton could not hold in his chuckle and looked away before Sibyl could see his curled lips. Sibyl’s ears turned red in embarrassment, “What are you laughing at?” “I did not know sweet potato was what you planned to eat for dinner.” Sibyl casually replied, “It’s a good stomach filler at a low cost. In this way I am able to save money to pay the debt.” Keshton felt a sudden rush of discomfort at her mention of paying off the debt. Nevermind that she was eating less due to it. He watched her eating extremely slowly and her eyes fixed on something between the cloth swing of the stall. He followed her line of sight and found a small baby sleeping in the cloth swing.
