Instead of waiting for the elevator, Sibyl raced up the stairs to her apartment then shut the door behind her with a bang as if a ghost were chasing after her. Leaning against the door and taking deep, gasping breaths, she finally found herself alone. She slid weakly to the floor, her mind echoed with Keshton’s heartfelt confession, her heart was a tumultuous pool of uncontrollable emotions. ‘I wish to become only yours. Can 1?‘ Sibyl clutched her chest, trying to control her racing heartbeat. “He wants to become mine?” she whispered to herself, a mixture of surprise and disbelief in her voice. She had never expected to reach this point with Keshton, where he would confess his feelings to her, and she would be so hesitant to accept them that she acted as if she hadn’t heard him. Instead of rejecting him outright or even slapping him for having such bold thoughts about her, she had tried to quietly walk away. Deep in her heart, she didn’t want to tread the same path, where she had been humiliated and betrayed. However, this time, the man would not be Edwin but Keshton. When she quietly decided to walk away, he followed her. When she wanted to act as if nothing had happened, he whispered in her ear before dropping her home, “You don’t need to answer my request now. Let me hear about your feelings for me at the ball.” Caged between the car door and his chest, Sibyl stared up at Keshton while holding her breath, still feeling as if it was some kind of prank or dream. Zara stated in a confused and lost way, “I honestly don’t know. Maybe due to rejection and becoming mateless, we were so focused on surviving that we intentionally refused to notice his abnormal way of approaching us. From the very beginning, he was different with us, and we knew it, yet we also never denied his advances. Of course, you and I both know how much he has affected us since the day he entered our life. We could never ignore him, no matter how much we tried to run. In life–and–death situations, he was always there for us acting like a shield. Be it Noah, hunters, or Edwin, he was always there for us. Isn’t it all just strange? We even trusted him during our heat. Now, as I see it, our relationship with him was never that of a debtor and creditor. And one day, when he tires of us, will he then show his true colors?” Zara was stunned by Sibyl’s comments, which clearly stemmed from their past experiences. Whether it was their father, mother, brother, relatives, or soulmate, everyone had tossed her aside once she was no longer useful to them. “What if it’s just an attraction that will fade away with time?” Sibyl questioned. “Why would you think so?” Zara asked. Sibyl chuckled, “How many men in our life have confessed their feelings after seeing our blind white eyes? Is there a future with us?” Zara replied, “Then how many men in our life have tied themselves to our emotions, not just our body? How many were angry with s being mated and marked by another man? How many were jealous enough to prohibit us from being wil. other men so that they could have us all to themselves? Is he really caring about the future or just following his heart?” Sibyl remained speechless for a long time, unable to respond to Zara.
