Quickly putting the gown back on, Sibyl hurriedly ran into the city from the woods. The hair she had beautifully styled before leaving the apartment was now a mess, as was the gorgeous gown Keshton had bought for her. Her heart was heavy with guilt for not going to Keshton, but after receiving Kaha’s call, she couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. During the call, Kaha had been terrified, crying, and begging for help, having no one else to turn to but Sibyl. The sound of Kaha’s baby crying added to Sibyl’s anxiety. Kaha was clearly running from something or someone. The thought of always living with regret if she didn’t help Kaha dominated Sibyl’s heart, mind, and soul. “Kaha!” she yelled, her voice echoing down the deserted street. The area was unfamiliar to Sibyl, and she didn’t know where to find Kaha. There were many abandoned houses marked with government notices of impending demolition for reconstruction. The more Sibyl looked around, the gloomier the atmosphere became. There really was no one here, but Kaha had given her this address.” KAHA!!” Standing at the deserted crossroads, Sibyl screamed at the top of her lungs, but no matter how many times she called, there was no response. She couldn’t even pick up Kaha’s scent or any noise. The area was huge, and if she searched every building, it could take too long. Having no time to waste, Sibyl desperately pulled out her phone and called Kaha’s number. In the next second, her wolf ears caught the sound of a phone ringing. “Kaha!” Sibyl’s heart lit with hope as she started chasing the sound. She stumbled repeatedly, having a hard time running in her long gown, so she quickly tore its hem. The closer she got to the right side, the louder the phone rang until she heard Kaha’s screams. “Kaha!” Yelling, Sibyl entered an abandoned house, only to find Kaha screaming and begging a group of werewolves before one ripped her throat out. Kaha’s cries stopped instantly as she fell to the ground. “KAHA!!” Sibyl screamed in shock, alerting the werewolves to her presence. Sibyl looked at each of their faces in disbelief. “f**k!” The one who attacked Kaha gritted his teeth at the sight of Sibyl as she charged into the room. They all jumped out of the window at lightning speed. In the chaos, a candle that was burning on a side table caught fire on one of the dirty, torn drapes in the house. Sibyl could have cared less about chasing after them or the fire as she raced to Kaha. Her eyes were closed, and the side of her neck was ripped open, bleeding excessively. Sibyl placed Kaha’s head in her lap, “Kaha, open your eyes! It’s me, Sibyl.” She placed her hand on the wound to control the bleeding, but it was no use. Kaha would die in this condition, and the fire was spreading in the room. “I will take you to the hospital,” Sibyl stated, prepared to help her up. “N…no…” Kaha finally opened her eyes. Sibyl abruptly stopped and looked at her. “Kaha…” “I am not going to make it,” Kaha’s voice was broken. Sibyl’s eyes watered as she shook her head. “Don’t give up. Nothing will happen to you,” she promised, but Kaha shook her head slightly. “I was bound to this fate when I fell in love with a man, knowing he was a werewolf.” Despite her broken voice, Sibyl understood and was too shocked to react at the revelation. It turned out Kaha was aware of the werewolves‘ existence all along, and her husband was one of them. “I was so blinded by love that I could not see through his ill intentions.” “What did he do to you?” Sibyl’s voice shook with a bad feeling. “I was under the impression that he ran away because of my pregnancy, but in reality, he ran away from a huge debt that he could not pay. He had sold me as payment to a brothel. I have been running from those werewolves for months, but they caught me and…” A fat tear rolled down the corner of Kaha’s eye. Sibyl’s teary eyes subconsciously went to Kaha’s lower naked body, which was bleeding and badly torn. She immediately closed her eyes, unable to look at it anymore, tears rolling down her cheeks as she felt the pain Kaha had endured. “Sibyl, protect… my… baby,” Kaha’s breathing became weaker. The fire intensified in the room, but all Sibyl could hear was the word “baby.” She panicked and shook her head. “No, let’s go to the hospital. You are the mother, and you must protect your own baby. Let’s go. Nothing will happen to you.” Sibyl wiped her tears and tried to help Kaha up, but Kaha was unwilling. Her limbs had no strength left in them,

and she was more like a dead body. “Protect Liam… Sibyl,” Kaha took her last breath and pointed weakly at
the cabinet behind her. “Please…” With that, her breathing stopped completely.
