- Let’s Start Again
Keshton c****d his brows. He definitely had no knowledge about Sibyl’s past or her blindness but if Trace’s suspicion turned out to be true then… “Does it mean she will be blind permanently?”
“That can only be figured out when she wakes up,” Trace remarked.
Keshton ran a hand over his face to control himself only to witness the nurses stripping Sibyl out of his overcoat. “DON’T TOUCH HER!!” He growled.
The two nurses and Trace flinched at Keshton’s sudden outburst. Keshton pushed the two of them away and cradled Sibyl to his chest shooting a murderous glare at two nurses. “Whoever touches her dies!”
Trace stood in the middle of the room completely stunned by Keshton’s over protectiveness reaction towards Sibyl and for some reason it looked abnormal. Abnormal as if they were…
Trace’s hand shook slightly on his side as that word crossed his mind. He immediately stopped himself from thinking something that was impossible and crazy before he ordered the nurses to leave. “Mind–link me if you need my help,” saying, excusing himself from the room.
Keshton kissed Sibyl’s forehead and whispered, “You don’t have to be scared anymore, Sibyl. I will always be with you.”
Unknown to him, his voice vaguely registered in Sibyl’s ears but she was unsure whether what she was hearing was her illusion or reality. Before she completely lost consciousness.
For the following two days, the weather was bad but the Eclipse Moon Pack was busy. Joseph’s return and his pack’s destruction could not come to the attention of any other pack. So, the high ranking pack members were handling the situation very secretly. There were no traces left behind and no one ever saw Joseph. When he was dragged out of the hotel, four of Keshton’s wolves had taken Joseph away to an unknown somewhere, someplace that even Glen, Aries and Trace were not aware of. Witnessing Keshton’s all consuming focus on taking care of Sibyl, none of them asked Keshton about Joseph. However, after that day at that shifter’s hotel, Aries did not return to the Eclipse Moon Pack. He had just vanished leaving a message with Glen that he would be back.
Hearing birds chirping, Sibyl slowly opened her eyes. After a moment of blurry vision, she slowly blinked at the unfamiliar bedroom. Her mind was empty and she could not recall anything clearly. Every memory mind’s eye seems to be covered with a thin layer of fog. Nothing was clear. She was on a bed, tucked in with a blanket but the source of the warmth was coming from something else. She felt a strong yet familiar arm around her waist and then tilted her head to the side to find Keshton laying beside her. Her vision was slightly foggy but she could tell he was looking at her motionless.
“Keshton,” Sibyl called him softly.
Keshton’s eyes shook slightly with emotions when she recognized her. The way she locked eyes with him and called his name, it was clear that she could see him. “Sibyl” he pulled her into a hug and finally let go of the breath he was holding.
He did not want to freak her out with the questions like if she could see him. It was only going to cause her stress and panic if she lost her vision. He had to control himself and wait for her to confirm the state of her vision before he acted. But now, his wild heart was stable and full of joy. “You made me wait for three days.
Are you playing with my heart?”
Sibyl gasped and froze in his hug. After Kaha’s death, she thought he had begun to hate her but this… That’s when the layer of fog over her memory of Keshton coming to save her from Joseph faded away. He had fought for her and then confessed that he loved her. Sibyl’s heart squeezed in her chest thinking about that moment. This was the man who loved her unconditionally. She raised her arm and hugged him back. She had really played with his heart but not any longer, “Will sorry do?” she asked.
Keshton pulled away from her to narrow his eyes, “No but this will,” saying that, he placed a gentle kiss on her lips.
Sibyl smiled softly and opened her eyes when she felt Keshton touching her face. This time the fogginess in her eyes was gone and she could see his face clearly. As soon as their eyes locked with each other… “Mate,” Zara screamed in Sibyl’s mind, reminding her of the other night.
Sibyl’s eyes widened like an owl’s and she subconsciously pulled away slightly from Keshton. What kind of
game was her mind playing with her? Was she imagining things? Why was her wolf calling Keshton her soulmate?! Has she gone crazy?!
Panicking, she slid back to the edge of the bed and was about to fall. Keshton’s long arm reached out to grab her in time and he pulled her back to his chest in one smooth motion.
Her chest crushed into a hard chest and their faces came to within an inch of each other, “Where are you
running away to, mate?”
Sibyl’s hand pressed against his chest and subconsciously dug her nails into his chest as she stared at Keshton in shock and disbelief. “Mate?”
If it was only her imagination and she was going crazy then why would Keshton call her mate unless his wolf also recognized her as his…
“Impossible,” Sibyl’s voice was barely above the whisper, full of disbelief. Edwin had been the soulmate that she rejected. There was no way she would be lucky enough to get a second chance mate in Keshton. These things only happened in stories not in real life.
“I already told you once, there is no such thing as impossible in this world,” Keshton read her face like an open book as he placed his hand on her cheek.
“But this is…” Sibyl grew restless, unable to accept the truth.
“Sibyl,” Keshton called her name and made her look into his eyes. “Let’s start again.”
“What?” Sibyl’s heart skipped a beat at his proposal.
Keshton touched her rosy lips and whispered, “Let’s start a new life together as soulmates.”
