Chapter 7
“Say that again.” Ryder frowned, his pupils contracting.
The doctor was so scared by that look his legs went weak and he had to lean against the wall for support
“Miss Mia isn’t sick. Her body readings are above normal–she doesn’t need blood transfusions…”
He pulled out a report to show him.
“Miss Mia asked us to prepare two sets of reports. She said if we didn’t do it, she’d destroy the hospital. We were stuck between a rock and a hard place.”
The doctor was sweating bullets, his back completely soaked.
He thought he was going to die right there.
But Ryder just waved his hand dismissively.
“Get lost.”
That one word was like a royal pardon–the doctor bolted.
Ryder leaned against the wall, suddenly wanting to light a cigarette.
But remembering that Ivy didn’t like it, he threw it away.
So Mia wasn’t as innocent as she seemed either.
That day when he forced Ivy to give blood, she seemed to have said that Mia wasn’t sick, and the person who was actually ill was…
His breathing hitched. Instead of ordering his men to investigate, he went downstairs himself to find the doctor who had treated Ivy that day.
The doctor remembered Ivy and shook his head with a sigh.
“That poor girl has a blood disorder–a really severe one. We almost lost her that day.”
Hearing this, Ryder felt like his heart might stop beating.
Buried memories from two lifetimes surfaced.
It seemed like when they were kids, Grandpa Winters never liked letting Ryder take Ivy out on adventures.
Every time they snuck out, they’d get scolded.
Once when Ivy broke her leg, Ryder wasn’t allowed to see her for days.
Back then, he thought it was because he hadn’t taken good enough care of her, making Grandpa Winters angry.
He covered his face, hesitating about whether to contact Ivy.
Just as dawn was breaking, breaking news hit everyone’s phones nationwide.
“Real Identity of Capital’s Richest Family’s Heir Ryder Kane Exposed!”
At the same time, Old Mr. Kane’s secretary called Ryder.
“Young master, the Old Mr. Kane wants you to come home to the estate right now.”
