Chapter 9
Ryder Kane’s whole body went rigid.
It’s already dramatically thinner frame from this period made him look even more haggard and pitiful.
He couldn’t believe it.
“What did you say?”
“I said, I wanted you to die.”
I stopped laughing and looked at him coldly.
“You screwed me over once, I screw you over once. We’re even, aren’t we?”
“But how could you possibly know…”
Ryder Kane’s lips turned deathly pale–he never could have imagined things were like this.
Actually, I knew in my previous life too.
I’d met Ryder Kane’s birth mother.
She was a woman with a terminal illness, beyond saving.
I discovered her when she was lurking around the Kane family estate.
That’s when I found out Ryder Kane wasn’t actually a Kane.
Back then, I was just worried this news would affect the Kane family, so I paid to bury it.
I gave the woman some money to go abroad for treatment.
She died not long after, but sent me some documents first.
And those documents became the fuel I used to destroy Ryder Kane.
After hearing my explanation, Ryder Kane staggered and nearly fell.
He gripped the railing with one hand–that hand that was once worth millions, now powerless to do anything.
I thought Ryder Kane would curse me out, but instead he laughed.
“Ivy, you did all this because you still love me,
right?”
“If that’s the case, I don’t mind sacrificing the entire Kane family to wi

you back.”
“What about Mia Sterling?”
Hearing me mention Mia Sterling, Ryder Kane laughed even louder.
“Last time she faked her death to frame you. This time around, I made her really die! I stuffed her alive into the cremation chamber–there’s probably not even a bone left of her now!”
“Happy now, Ivy? Doesn’t that feel so much better?”
“Jasper Reed can help you get revenge, but so can I! I can kneel, I can give you
all my money!”
With a thud, the man who had never bowed to anyone in two lifetimes knelt before me.
“Ivy, I was wrong… she deceived me. You’re the one I love, it’s always been you.”
A tear rolled down Ryder Kane cheek.
Jasper Reed’s hard on my shoulder lightened slightly.
In the distance, police sirens grew closet.
Ryder Kane wasn’t afraid of being arrested–he looked at me with hope in his eyes.
Waiting for me to say i loved him.
Even as the handcuffs clicked around his wrists, I said nothing.
Before getting in the car, I finally called out to him.
Ryder Kane was so nervous his hands were shaking.
“If we’re reborn again in the next life, I hope I never know you from the start.”
I watched his face gradually turn ashen as the officers pushed him into the police car.
Ryder Kane was sentenced to life in prison for premeditated murder.
Before sentencing, he voluntarily turned over evidence of the Kane family’s illegal gray income.
And with that, the Kane family’s empire crumbled.
My adoptive mother couldn’t accept Mia Sterling’s death and died of a heart attack one night. All the Winters family assets returned to my hands.
After everything that had happened, I couldn’t immediately accept Jasper Reed.
But I believed time would heal everything.
“Ivy, how about we go to the Maldives in a few days to clear our heads?”
Jasper Reed carefully made the suggestion.
He seemed terrified I might divorce him, constantly trying to make me happy.
I just shook my head, and I could see the disappointment in his eyes.
I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Let’s skip the Maldives. How about we take wedding photos instead? We never did that before.”
Jasper Reed’s eyes lit up as he pulled me into his arms.
