Chapter 4
Reed chased me all the way to the elevator. I used my bag to forcefully push him away. “Get lost! Don’t even share an elevator with me. I can’t stand being in the same space with you–even breathing your air disgusts me.”
Hearing this, Reed stood pale and stunned at the elevator doors, watching them slowly close, seeing the hatred and disappointment in my eyes that could have killed him.
When my elevator reached the ground floor, Reed–still in his hospital gown–had run down the stairs, panting and out of breath. He blocked my path at the hospital entrance. “Babe, I won’t divorce you. Don’t say things in anger. We can’t possibly divorce. Let me explain.”
“A misunderstanding? You want me to forgive you? Which line do you actually have the nerve to say out loud? Reed, I’m so disappointed in you.”
As I spoke, I tried to push him away, but he seized the opportunity to grab my hand. “No, I admit I was wrong. I lost my mind. Maybe I was bored, and she was young and exciting–I was possessed by temporary insanity. But Harper, please don’t cry. When I saw you just now, I realized that you’re the only one I truly love. What I have with her is just a casual fling.”
I glared at him coldly. “A casual fling? Your ‘fling‘ seems endless. Reed, are you an actor? Why don’t you go into acting–you’d win the next Oscar for sure.”
“What did you say? What we have is just a casual fling?” Kyla had followed us down in the elevator, arriving just in
time to hear Reed’s words.
Tears fell from her eyes as she stared directly at Reed. “Everything you said last night was a lie? When you told me you loved me in bed–that was a lie too? When you said she was boring–that was a lie? When you promised to divorce her and marry me–another lie?”
“What am I supposed to do now? I love you so much. Without you, I’ll die!”
She was crying her heart out. Reed couldn’t comfort her as he tried to catch me leaving. Suddenly, there was a commotion behind us–Kyla had fainted, collapsing to the ground.
“Kyla!” Reed rushed to her, cradling her in his arms. He frantically looked back for me, only to see me already in my
car, driving away.
“Harper!” Reed shouted, but no one answered his call anymore.
My fiery temperament–inherited from my father–meant I took decisive action. Back at the house I shared with Reed, I called a professional moving company and began clearing out all my belongings.
Seeing this, the Forrester family’s longtime housekeepers became frantic, first calling Reed, but his phone was off, then calling my mother–in–law and father–in–law.
This worked–they quickly called me, but I didn’t answer. Instead, I sent a video to the Forrester family group chat. And this time, not a single person spoke up.

Chapter 4
It was a high–definition video of Reed and Kyla’s five–minute passionate kiss, complete with emotional and verbal exchanges–hot, passionate, and intense.
I added one message: “Don’t they deserve my blessing for such love?”
Then I left the group chat. From today on, I was no longer part of the Forrester family and wanted nothing to do with them ever again.
Reed, with his phone turned off, knew nothing about this–unaware that outside his little love bubble, the whole world was exploding.
When I arrived at my family home, my father jumped up, threatening to go to the hospital and break Reed’s legs. My brother coldly called business partners, declaring that anyone doing business with the Forrester Group would become an enemy of our Sternes.
And the Sterne legal team worked through the night, calculating our pre–marital assets, marital assets, and drafting divorce papers.
Meanwhile, Kyla was still innocently posting on Facebook: “I love watching you wake up beside me in the morning.”
The photo showed Reed’s sleeping face. Clearly, they had spent a satisfying night together.
With that, I happily saved it all as evidence for my lawyers.
I love how young girls are so straightforward about love–always showing off, posting everything on social media.
Gathering evidence couldn’t be more convenient.
Reed doesn’t want a divorce, but it’s no longer up to him. The separation of our families‘ business interests is
already underway, with my father and father–in–law discussing how to handle it. Dividing the cooperation between two conglomerates is no small matter.
