Seven months later, Isabella gave birth to twin daughters.
She and Lucius had agreed that their older daughter, Celeste Moretti, would inherit the Moretti family business, while their younger daughter, Selene Claymore, would inherit the Claymore legacy.
During Isabella’s pregnancy, Lucius had managed to clear his schedule for the next six months while staying by her side.
So after the babies were born, he had plenty of time to help with childcare. Combined with Isabella’s mother’s assistance, Isabella got to relax and enjoy herself.
When her postpartum recovery ended, the couple brought their daughters to visit the family estate.
Mr. Moretti was over the moon, dividing his late wife’s jewelry collection in half to give to both kids.
The other Moretti elders all prepared generous gifts, and Ronan’s parents even transferred ownership of their private amusement park, calling it a “welcome gift for the nieces.”
Isabella remembered that park had originally belonged to Ronan.
She instinctively glanced his way and was shocked by what she saw–after just a few months, he looked haggard and barely recognizable.
Perhaps sensing her gaze, Ronan looked up. His bloodshot eyes flickered briefly before he looked away again.
Lucius followed her glance and frowned slightly.
In the year since marrying Isabella, he’d rarely paid attention to Ronan’s affairs, though he’d heard rumors now and then.
While Lucius disapproved of his nephew’s dissolute lifestyle, Ronan was still his brother’s son.
As head of the Moretti family, both emotionally and logically, he couldn’t just watch Ronan continue spiraling downward.
So after the family dinner ended, Lucius called him into the study.

Whatever they discussed, when Ronan emerged, he looked much better–his eyes had regained
some life.
Seeing him pull himself together, his grandfather and parents all felt relieved.
On the drive home, Isabella couldn’t contain her curiosity.
“Honey, what did you two talk about in there?”
Lucius adjusted the babies‘ blankets and took her hand in his.
“I gave him the Riverside project.”
“That’s it?”
“That’s it.”
Seeing Isabella’s puzzled expression, Lucius patiently explained.
“He’s been drinking himself senseless because he’s lived in luxury too long and gotten stuck wallowing in romantic drama. Give him some work to do–when he’s busy, he won’t have time to overthink things. Better than having him drink himself into the hospital and worry my brother and
sister–in–law.”
Winter turned to spring, year after year.
The two little girls grew up slowly, babbling their first words-“Mama” and “Dada.”
After marriage, Lucius–previously known as a workaholic–started living a strict nine–to–five life, always home on time.
Every day after work, his first stop was picking up various pastries and toys according to Isabella’s requests, plus a bouquet of flowers.
Before he even reached the door, the two little ones would hear his footsteps and come running,
calling “Daddy! Daddy!” nonstop.
The powerful CEO who commanded respect in boardrooms was completely overwhelmed by his daughters‘ enthusiasm.
One moment he’d be pushing Celeste on the swing, the next he’d be running toy trains with Selene.
There was never a moment’s rest.

Meanwhile, Isabella would lounge on the sofa eating fruit, watching him run around frantically, laughing until her sides hurt.
After four or five years of this sweet “torture,” even Lucius had reached his limit. The moment the
girls were old enough, he enrolled them in kindergarten.
On their first day, after waving goodbye and watching the two little figures disappear through the
doors, he let out a long sigh of relief and practically dragged Isabella away.
Seeing his eagerness, she clicked her tongue and teased him.
“I seem to remember someone saying he wanted two daughters and couldn’t wait to spend every
moment watching them grow up. Didn’t someone also say he wanted to build a preschool at home? And now, after just a few years, you’re already done?”
