Chapter 13

“Lorian, what’s wrong? Is there something in this water?”
“Quick, Saffron, get in the car–I’m taking you to the hospital!”
He was beyond caring about anything else, trying to scoop me up and rush out of the café.
“What are you doing!” I struggled to shake him off, but suddenly felt this burning heat rising in my body.
Lorian quickly stripped off his jacket, wrapped it around me, and shoved me into the car.
“What the hell is happening?” I collapsed in the back seat. The enclosed car reeked of his cologne, but now it felt like some kind of aphrodisiac, making me moan uncontrollably.
“Saffron!” Lorian was drowning in regret. He’d gotten there early and, in a moment of madness, drugged the water.
His grandmother’s words echoed in his head.
“Are you really okay with her being out there alone? Instead of letting her be with other men, why not get her pregnant? Then we can make it up to her.”
“Women always say they don’t want kids, but once they’re pregnant, they can’t bear to give them up!”
I seemed to lose all sense, just gripping his solid forearm while my other hand fumbled with his cufflinks.
“Saffron, do you know who I am?” His eyes darkened as he looked at me, flushed and disheveled, unable to suppress his desire any longer.
“You know it kills me to see you with another man…”
He gently kissed my earlobe, threading his fingers through mine and pinning me down.
“Has he kissed you here? Does he know how sensitive your ears are?”
Like punishment, his tongue teased my earlobe, his burning breath like flames, making the atmosphere between us even more intense.
“You’re…” I bit my lip, broken moans escaping despite my efforts to hold them back.
“Who am I?” Lorian kissed my lips, his voice low and coaxing.
But then, even drugged out of my mind, I suddenly pushed him away.
“You’re not Jareth! Who the fuck are you?”
