I wanted to argue, to tell him that he’d lost any right to call Skye his mate when he rejected her, Hut this wasn’t the time for that fight. Reluctantly, I nodded, and we reached a temporary truce for Skye’s sake.
When we arrived at Maxwell’s hotel, the staff refused to let us in..
“I’m sorry, sis, but it’s past visiting hours,” the receptionist said firmly.
My patience, already worn thin, snapped completely. I slammed my fist down on the reception desk, cracking the polished surface.

Just then, my mother stepped out of the elevator, her silk robe wrapped tightly around her.
