Chapter 206
Skye’s POV
“Alpha Xavier? You’re here?” Lydia asked,
you be celebrating your victory?”
Prise evident in her voice. Or should I call you Alpha King now? Shouldn’t..
The tall, handsome wolf, soon to be the new Alpha King Xavier, stood in the corridor of the waiting room. He looked more confident and radiant than before.
Xavier shrugged his shoulders somewhat embarrassedly. “I’m not officially Alpha King yet, so please don’t address me that
- us. “Saving Adrian is the priority right now.”
way.” He stepped closer, his gaze shifting betwee,
I stared at him, unable to process why the winner of
election would come here instead of attending his celebration. “You know donating blood will weaken your strength, and you’re still willing to help Adrian?” I asked. I didn’t understand why Xavier would do this for Adrian. This wasn’t a small favor–it was a significant sacrifice for an Alpha.
Xavier met my gaze directly. “Adrian saved me once before. Don’t worry, I have no ulterior motives.”
Gratitude washed over me in such an overwhelming wave that I could barely speak. “Thank you,” I managed to say, my voice cracking. “Thank you so much.”
The doctor quickly stepped forward. “We need to proceed immediately if we’re going to save him. Please follow me, Alpha
Xavier.”
Xavier nodded and followed the doctor toward the trauma room. Before disappearing through the doors, he turned back to us. “Don’t worry, both of you. I promise Adrian will be fine. He’s strong, and my blood will help his body fight.”
“We can’t thank you enough,” Lydia said.
I nodded vigorously, tears streaming down my face. “Anything you need, anything at all…”
A small smile appeared on Xavier’s face. “Well, if you really want to thank me, you could get me a roast chicken. It’s been a long trial, and I’m starving now.”
“A roast chicken? Of course!” I jumped to my feet. ‘I’ll go right now!”
I grabbed Lydia’s arm, pulling her toward the exit. In my haste, I nearly tripped over my own feet, fumbling with my jacket and almost dropping my phone. My hands were shaking so badly I could barely zip up my jacket.
“Slow down,” Lydia said as we stepped outside into the cool night air. “The stores in town are probably closed by now.”
She was right. The small town near the election grounds was quiet, with darkened storefronts lining the main street. We walked for nearly thirty minutes, checking every restaurant and convenience store we passed, but everything was closed
for the night.
Standing under a streetlight, the reality of our situation hit me all at once. The stress of the past few hours, the terror of seeing Adrian bleeding out, and now this simple failure to find food for the man who might save him broke something inside me.
I collapsed against a brick wall and slid to the ground, sobs wracking my body. “Why does everything end like this?” I cried, hugging my knees to my chest. “I’ve ruined everything! I can’t do anything right! I can’t even buy a stupid roast

chicken!
Lydia knelt beside me, wrapping her arms around my shoulders. She gently rubbed my back as I cried, her touch stead, and comforting.
“Alpha Xavier doesn’t actually want a roast chicken,” she said softly. “He was just trying to distract you, give you something to focus on besides worrying.” She pulled back slightly to look me in the eyes. “And I need to tell you again, seriously, you haven’t ruined anything. Everyone has their own destiny.”
I nodded, wiping at my tears with the back of my hand. I leaned into Lydia’s embrace, grateful that she was with me. She had become my only anchor in this storm.
“I’ll call the hotel manager,” Lydia said, pulling out her phone. “She can prepare a roast chicken for us, along with some pastries. It might take a little while, but we’ll have something to bring back.”
An hour later, we returned to the hospital carrying a basket filled with a warm roast chicken and an assortment of pastries. When we reached the emergency room door, we found it still closed, with no sign of Xavier or the doctor.
We settled into the uncomfortable chairs again, the basket between us. There was nothing to do but wait.
I’m not sure how much time passed before the door finally opened. The doctor emerged first, followed by Xavier. Both looked tired, but there was relief in their expressions.
“Alpha Adrian is out of danger,” the doctor announced. “The transfusion was successful, and his wound has finally begun to heal properly. He’ll need rest, but he should make a full recovery.”
Joy exploded through me. Without thinking, I threw my arms around the doctor in a tight hug, then turned and embraced Xavier just as fiercely.
“Thank you,” I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. “Thank you for saving him.”
Lydia pulled the chicken and pastries from the basket. “They’re a bit cold now,” she said apologetically to Xavier.
“It doesn’t matter,” Xavier replied with a tired smile.
I turned to the doctor, hope rising in my chest. “Can I go in and see Adrian now?”
