Chapter 209
Skye’s POV
I watched as Adrian’s eyes narrowed slightly, his jaw tensing as he studied Xavier. The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife.

Xavier took a seat in the chair beside Adrian’s bed, crossing his legs casually as if we were having a normal conversation over coffee. His perfectly pressed suit didn’t have a single wrinkle.

Adrian let out a short laugh. “Aren’t we allies already? I just pledged my support to you as the next Alpha King.”
I glanced at Ryder, who had stopped eating completely,
were filled with confusion. We had always seen Xavier. s fork suspended midair as he watched the exchange. Lydia’s eyes

now, he radiated powerful ambition and an intimidating presence.
“Not just ordinary allies,” Xavier clarified, leaning forward slightly, “I need people I can trust completely.”
We all remained silent, waiting for him to elaborate. Xavier didn’t continue immediately, instead shifting his attention to
scan each of our faces, as if measuring our reactions.
“Let me ask you something,” Xavier said, turning toward Adrian. “Why did you want to become Alpha King? Power?
Wealth? Fame?”
Adrian opened his mouth to respond, but Xavier cut him off with a wave of his hand.
“I’ve done my research,” he continued. “Initially, you didn’t even register for the Alpha King election. You only entered after your former Beta, Nadia, was killed.”
My breath caught in my throat. How did he know that? Nadia’s death was still a painful subject for all of us, especially Adrian. I watched as Adrian’s expression darkened further, his amber eyes turning cold.
“You’ve been investigating us?” Adrian’s voice was dangerously quiet. “Since when have you been keeping tabs on my
pack?”
It was exactly what I was wondering. All candidates would research their opponents, but not to this level of detail. The Oasisborn Pack was small and located in a remote desert area. Before we entered the election, we weren’t significant enough to warrant this kind of attention.
Xavier held up his hands in a placating gesture. “I assure you, I wasn’t trying to invade your privacy. But yes, I did have my people look into Nadia’s death.” His voice softened slightly. “She was brutally tortured before she died. That’s not just a territorial dispute gone wrong.”
Adrian’s knuckles turned white as he gripped the blanket tighter. I could see the muscle in his jaw working as he fought to
control his emotions.”
“I think this is none of your business,” Adrian said coldly. “You should focus on your own pack’s affairs.”

Xavier held Adrian’s gaze steadily. I belleve, he continued, his voice measured, that with proper legal assistance te Gravestone Pack wouldn’t have dared to touch your territory or your people. Their attack was illegal tinder woll Jaw bu there was no enforcement because Alpha King Thomas simply doesn’t care about small western packs like yours. He no value in them.
The room fell silent again as we processed his words. Was he sincere? Or was this just political maneuvering? I couldn’t tell, and from Adrian’s guarded expression, he couldn’t either.
After what felt like an eternity, Adrian extended his hand toward Xavier. “If your political vision is truly what you say it is then I believe our goals align. You have my word that I and the Oasisborn Pack will support you after your inauguration.
Xavier gripped Adrian’s hand firmly, relief flashing across his face. “Thank you. I appreciate that more than you know.
He glanced around the room, his expression turning secretive. “What I’m about to tell you must stay within these four walls. No one else can know about this.”
Adrian nodded toward Ryder, who immediately stood up and moved to close the door. The soft click of the lock engaging felt ominous in the quiet room.
Xavier lowered his voice despite the privacy.
“The first thing I need your help with is sending the current Alpha King Thomas to prison.”
I couldn’t help the small gasp that escaped my lips. Alpha Thomas was revered throughout the werewolf community. All media portrayed him as a fair, just ruler who had brought prosperity to werewolf society. Moreover, his family was incredibly powerful, practically monopolizing the entire werewolf world’s medical industry.
Sending Alpha King Thomas to prison would be no less challenging than competing for the Alpha King position itself.
Xavier’s eyes flicked to me before returning to Adrian. “He’s not the benevolent leader the news makes him out to be!”
