Chapter 220
Skye’s POV
The entire venue descended into chaos. Thomas stepped forward, his face
mask of innocence as he addressed the crowd.
“Alpha King Xavier, this must be some misunderstanding!” Thomas declared, his voice carrying across the amphitheater. “During my four years as Alpha King, I’ve dedicated myself to the North American werewolf community. I don’t know whose rumors you’ve been listening to that would lead you to make such baseless accusations!”
Xavier’s eyes narrowed. “These aren’t rumors! I have
right here.”
He pulled a small USB drive from his pocket. “Everything is
As Xavier moved to hand the drive to Elder Selene, Alpha Rodrigo suddenly lunged forward from the side of the stage. He snatched the USB from Xavier’s hand, threw it to the ground, and crushed it beneath his boot.
Rodrigo didn’t know that the USB drive was just a tool we had used to lure out Thomas’s accomplices.
“You bastard! You deliberately destroyed evidence? Adrian charged forward, grabbing Rodrigo by the collar of his expensive suit.
Rodrigo remained composed, not even flinching under Adrian’s grip. “You shouldn’t defame a former Alpha King in public. If you have grievances, please follow proper legal procedures.”
More Alphas began moving toward the stage, positioning themselves behind Thomas. The crowd’s murmurs grew louder as people took sides.
“This is political persecution!”
“Xavier must have a personal vendetta against Thomas!”
“How do we know these accusations are even real?”
What surprised me most was how many supporters Thomas had. The crowd split into two distinct factions, with Thomas’s defenders and Xavier’s supporters shouting at each other across the aisles. Security warriors tried to maintain order, but their efforts were failing as tempers flared.
The situation escalated quickly. Rodrigo and Adrian had already shifted into their wolf forms, circling each other with teeth bared and hackles raised. Adrian’s gray wolf was larger, but Rodrigo’s russet form moved with practiced precision. They lunged at each other, teeth snapping and claws tearing.
Alpha Morgan and I stood with several others forming a protective circle around Xavier, but the surging crowd separated. us. People pushed and shoved from all directions. I could sense someone wanted to kill Xavier in the confusion, but I couldn’t identify who among the mass of bodies. Every face looked like a potential threat.
A deep growl rumbled in my throat tried to scan the crowd for assassins. The scent of aggression hung thick in the air, mixed with fear and confusion.
Suddenly, everyone’s phones began finging and buzzing simultaneously. The unexpected chorus of notification alerts momentarily paused the fighting as people instinctively reached for their devices.
I glanced at my own phone and saw a notification from Garrett. He had done exactly what I’d asked. Our contingency plan.
which I’d confirmed with him right before the ceremony began, was in motion.
Xavier seized the opportunity, his voice cutting through the ntomentary quiet. “Now everyone can see! This is the criminal evidence against Thomas’s medical consortium!”
The crowd’s attention shifted to their phones, where images and video clips showed facilities with caged children, surgical rooms, and documents detailing organ “donations” and transactions. The evidence was damning and impossible to ignore.
The audience erupted into fresh conversations:
“This is monstrous! How could he do this to children?”
“These could be fake. Anyone can create convincing videos these days.”
“But there are bank records and timestamps!”
“Where’s Thomas in these videos? This doesn’t prove he ordered any of this!”
Elder Selene approached the microphone at the front of the stage, her aged hand raised for silence. The crowd gradually quieted, respecting her authority if nothing else.
“Alpha Thomas,” she said, her voice steady despite the tension. “I’m afraid you must cooperate with our investigation.”
She gestured to two Council guards to take Thomas into custody.
Thomas glared at the approaching guards. “Who dares touch me?” His voice carried a threat that made the guards hesitate.
He then leaned close to Elder Selene, speaking in a low voice that I could barely hear from my position. “Remember where your granddaughter’s eyes came from!”
I watched Elder Selene’s expression falter, a flicker of panic crossing her features before she composed herself.
“Alpha Thomas, please cooperate with the investigation,” she said, her voice slightly less steady. “The High Court will surely clear your name if you’re innocent. Consider this an opportunity to prove yourself.”
She gestured toward the exit with an open palm, inviting him to follow the guards.
Thomas remained rooted in place, his jaw clenched and eyes calculating.
Elder Selene leaned closer to him and whispered, “The press is still livestreaming. Think of your family. Don’t make this harder for everyone.”
After a long moment, Thomas took a few steps forward. He straightened his suit jacket, adjusted his tie, and smoothed his hair. With practiced ease, he flashed a perfect politician’s smile toward the cameras. He waved to his supporters.
“Everyone, stay calm,” he called out. “I won’t admit to things I haven’t done. Everything I’ve ever done has been for the benefit of our North American packs!“/
As Thomas was escorted away, the crowd gradually dispersed, many following the vehicles transporting Thomas to the High Court.
I remained with Xavier and Adrian, discussing security measures and next steps, when I noticed Leon approaching from
across the ceremonial grounds. Behind him, Ethan was dragging a bloodied man as casually as if he were carrying a grocery bag.
Ethan threw the man to the ground in front of us. The man’s face was barely recognizable beneath the blood and bruises. His limbs lay at unnatural angles, and his breathing came in shallow gasps.
Leon looked down at the broken figure, then up at Xavier.
“Very unfortunate,” Leon said coolly. “When I caught him, he had already taken poison.”
