Chapter 222
Skye’s POV
“What?” Alpha Morgan set down her glass with a gasp.
The jovial atmosphere that had filled the bar moments ago instantly evaporated.
“Thomas committed suicide!” the warrior repeated, his voice echoing through the now silent room.
“No way!” Xavier’s expression tensed immediately.
I understood everyone’s shock. While we all wished for bad people to face justice, Thomas’s death wasn’t actually good news for us. Rather than simply dying, we needed Thomas to face public accountability for his crimes and reveal who else was involved. That approach aligned better with Xavier’s vision of creating a more lawful werewolf society.
“Has he been taken to the hospital?” Xavier asked urgently.
“The prison doctor already pronounced him dead,” the warrior replied grimly.
“How is this possible? Aren’t there guards watching the prisoners? How did he manage to commit suicide? What method did he use?” Xavier fired questions rapidly.
“A silver dagger. He dug out his own heart. The scene was horrific,” the warrior said, wincing at the memory.
“But who smuggled the dagger into prison?” Adrian interjected. “Is this really ‘suicide‘ or is it ‘murder‘?”
The warrior scratched his head uncertainly. “I don’t know that detail. All I know is that the prison is currently keeping this quiet while they investigate. Our informants will update us on any developments, of course.”
Xavier nodded. “Send me a detailed report tonight. I want to know every detail about Thomas’s suicide.”
“Yes, Alpha King!” The warrior saluted before leaving.
After he departed, none of us felt like continuing our celebration.
“What should we do next?” Alpha Morgan asked, looking around the table.
Xavier sighed. “First, we need to determine the actual cause of Alpha Thomas’s death. I don’t believe someone like him would suddenly develop a conscience.”
Adrian glanced at his watch. “It’s getting late. Let’s head back
to
the hotel and figure out our strategy tomorrow.”
As we prepared to leave, Alpha Morgan called out to Adrian. “Alpha Adrian, how is Garrett doing? Why didn’t he join you tonight?”
Adrian explained smoothly, “Garrett is busy helping Alpha King Xavier manage public communications, so he couldn’t make it tonight. But don’t worry, he’s doing well.”
Alpha Morgan looked slightly embarrassed. “I’m glad to hear that. Thank you for taking care of him these past few years.”
“I should be thanking Garrett. He’s been incredibly helpful to me, Adrian replied. “I’m sure he’ll attend the next gathering.”
Alpha Morgan’s eyes brightened. “Really?
Adrian smiled and nodded.

Walking back to the hotel with Adrian, I asked, “Were you just lying to Alpha Morgan? Garrett actually didn’t want to come today ble tide i still doesn’t know how to face his mother, right?:
Adrian sighed. “I can’t forgive anyone on Garrett’s behalf, but I believe everyone deserves a second chance at family. Their relationship is complicated, but they both need healing. Sometimes a little nudge can help two people find their way back to each other.
The next morning, Xavier called early to summon us for an emergency meeting.
I yawned, grabbing a cup of black coffee before meeting Adrian downstairs.
Since breaking my mate bond with Leon, Adrian seemed to be a bit excessive in bed at night. I couldn’t understand how he could wake up so early after spending so much energy in our bedroom activities.
Since officially assuming the Alpha King position, Xavier had moved out of the hotel. He was temporarily staying with several Elders in the Council building and would move to the traditional Alpha King palace after Thomas’s case was resolved.
When we met Xavier, he handed us an iPad.
“This is information from my intelligence agent in the prison,” Alpha King Xavier explained.
“They’re just concluding it was suicide? That seems far too convenient,” I commented while scrolling through the information on screen.
I continued reading the report, growing more suspicious with each paragraph. The official statement claimed Thomas had somehow managed to smuggle a silver dagger into his cell and used it to take his own life during the night when guards were changing shifts. Convenient timing that seemed too perfect to be coincidental.
The photos made my stomach turn.
“Look at the position of the body,” I pointed out. “How could he have possibly reached his own heart at that angle? And the amount of strength needed to cut through the ribcage with a dagger that size would be nearly impossible for someone to do to themselves.”
Adrian nodded as he studied the report. “The guard rotation schedules have been altered too. The usual guards were reassigned just yesterday, -replaced with new personnel who conveniently failed to check Thomas’s cell during the estimated time of death.”
“The prison warden is rushing to cremate the body,” Xavier added, his expression grim.
“That’s ridiculous,” Adrian scoffed. “They just want to destroy evidence before we can demand a proper autopsy.”
“Someone wanted to make it look like suicide,” I said, “but they got sloppy with the details.”
Xavier scrolled through more images on his tablet. “The security footage from that night is supposedly corrupted. Another convenient malfunction.”
“Who stands to benefit from Thomas’s death?” Adrian asked. “He had information that could have exposed other accomplices/
“We need to move quickly,” Adrian said firmly. “The report says they’re planning to cremate the body tomorrow morning. We need a court order to stop that and demand an independent autopsy,”
“And we need to interview the guards who were suddenly reassigned,” I added.
“There’s more, Xavier said, swiping to another document. “Thomas left a suicide note, but the handwriting analysis isn’t conclusive. It could be forged.”
The note itself was brief and suspiciously convenient.
Adrian studied the prison layout on the iPad. “We need to preserve the crime scene and secure the body before any evidence is destroyed.”

“I agree,” I said. “We should also look into who authorized the guard reassignments. That person might lead us to whoever ordered the hit.”
“Also,” Adrian added, “we should investigate if any other prisoners saw or heard anything unusual. Prison inmates have their own information
networks.”
“It’s obvious,” Adrian concluded, looking up from the iPad. “We need to move fast. Perhaps we should go find Elder Selene right away. She has the authority to halt the cremation and order a proper investigation.”
Xavier nodded. “I was thinking the same thing.”
