What else was I supposed to do other than staying home like my fiancé expected me to? It is not like I could fight back against him, his Alpha ranking clearly superior to mine, which is a dormant wolf that refuses to come out. Even then, I never expected logan to have a reaction such as this one, something so visceral and filled with hatred.
I have made myself at home at the dining room table. I had to clear off last night’s abandoned dinner and I tried my best to save the candles as much as I could. Now, the table top is littered with financial documents and printed out spreadsheets that I’m trying to find more discrepancies within since most of them have come from Carla’s workstation and computer at the office.
My focus simply is not there though. I am unable to keep my mind on the numbers and the trail of leaking money from the pack’s finances. Even as my eyes glaze over the countless documents and paper trails of money, my mind wanders away from the numbers and floats back to how logan treated me this morning
He was so cold and dismissive, somebody that I could barely recognize after all of the time and growth that we have made with each other. It was like somebody had taken over his body. Someone from afar was controlling him, feeding him what to do and say to hit me exactly where it hurts.
Before I can even think more on the topic, the front door of the house bursts open. A gasp leaves my lips, and I stand from the table, rushing down the hallway to see if it is Logan who has come here for me.
Can we finally make up? Can we finally put away this madness of what Michael has done to me? He should know that I would never do anything to betray his trust, that I would never do something so reckless and stupid as risking everything that we have built for our future with one another.
It is not Logan, though. Instead, Tony walks through the door with two bulky bodyguards behind him, scowls on their faces as they inspect the home around them. I intercept them in the hallway, stopping them from walking any farther.
“Ah, there you are Emily,” Tony greets me with a monotone voice. He gestures to the men who stand behind him, turning his attention back to me. “Logan has commanded these two men to keep watch after you while he’s away.”
“He what?!” I snap, anger flooding my body. “No! I don’t want this! Send them away!”
“You see,” Tony waves his hands to the men. They move past me despite my rejections, ignoring me as they settle into the living space beside the dining room. “I work for Logan. Not you. If you have a problem, take it up with him, not me.”
And just like that, Tony exits the House without another word, leaving me behind with more questions than I have answers, and unbridled anger, forming with every passing second, ready to be aimed at Logan once he comes home.
Hours pass. I remain at the dining room table, working as fast as I possibly can to get the papers done, and attempt to distract myself away from the fact that Logan most likely hates me now. The truth has always been distorted when it comes to me, with people always believe in Chloe and my stepmother over what have to say, always disregarding honesty in favor of their
bias.
So, logan knows about the kiss. There is not much I can do about that. All I can do now is hope that he believes me when I tell him that Michael did it of his own volition and that I immediately pushed him away, not wanting to be trapped in a moment like
that with him because I do not love Michael anymore.
I love him.
As soon as the front door of the home opens, my body stiffens. Anxiety takes over my actions, as I slowly close the folders, forming neat stacks on the wooden table as I listen to his footsteps grow closer and closer as he walks deeper inside the home. Our eyes meet as soon as he enters the open space, a small breath, leaving his lips.
I stand from the table and keep my hands folded in front of me. I walked towards him with one goal in mind: to tell him the truth.
“Logan,” I start, but he shakes his head and dismisses me, heading towards his office that sits just up the stairs. I quickly follow after him, allowing my anger to get the best of me. “You can’t keep doing this to me. You can’t keep shutting me out just

because you think I did something that I clearly didn’t do.”
“Oh yeah? And what are you gonna do about it, huh?” Logan callsack from over his shoulder.
“You can’t keep me locked away in your home forever,” I say with bitterness laced in my voice, “you can’t keep me prisoner in here.”
“Don’t be dramatic, Emily, you are not a prisoner. You are free to leave whenever you wish, but the Deltas have to go with you,” he finally turns around in our eyes meet once again.
“Is this some kind of revenge that you’re acting up upon me? What did I do wrong to deserve to be treated like this?” I asked, my voice trembling, ready to break at any moment.
“I saw pictures of you and Michael kissing,” Logan finally lays, his cards out onto the table. “It looked like you were enjoying yourself.”
“Did it?” I asked with a scoff, “because I pushed him away as soon as he did it. I did not engage in a kiss with him. I did not want to, nor am I going to entertain the idea that I did!”
A hurt expression flashes across Logan’s face. I noticed the way his browse for ever so slightly, the way his jaw clenches for just a split second, matching his tense muscles and posture as he towers over me. It pains me to see him like this, but how else am I supposed to respond?
He is simply giving me no chance to explain my case or to show him exactly what happened. Of course, he is believing a picture over me. Visual evidence always stumps the words that come out of my mouth.
“Let me guess,” I breathe out and cross my arms over my chest, defensive, “you received a single picture from an unknown number right?”
The look on his face tells me that I’m right.
“I can’t believe you would’ve fallen for something like that,” I say, my voice no longer angry, but refrained, “I can’t believe you would fall for one of Chloe’s tricks.”
“My trust has been broken regardless and the Deltas will ensure that nothing else like this happens again,” Logan informs me, doubling down on his choice of bodyguards.
“If you continue to do this, Logan, then I want you to know that you have officially lost me. I will no longer allow myself to fall for a man that believes in lies and warped truths,” I stay where I am, unable to move.
“Be that way then,” Logan clears his throat and walks past me, leaving his office and heading towards his bedroom.
