Freya looked embarrassed but quickly grew indignant again. “It’s my fault for acting impulsively. I didn’t expect that thief to carry a restricted knife. But he was so sneaky! I didn’t even notice him slipping the stolen goods onto me while Jasmine was chasing him. When the police arrived, they accused me of being his accomplice, leaving me speechless. Jasmine hit him a little too hard because she was afraid he’d hurt someone with the knife, and now we’re both stuck here. It’s so frustrating!”
Louis glanced at her animated expression, the corner of his lips twitching before he suppressed it. “That thief was indeed bold.”
Waylon couldn’t hold back. “Freya, you’re truly impressive, a real heroine. Today just wasn’t your lucky day–if it weren’t for Jasmine, you might’ve ended up injured or worse. Who knows? You might’ve even gotten a commendation for bravery, maybe even made the news and become famous.”
Freya wasn’t stupid; she could hear the sarcasm in his words.
It wasn’t entirely my fault. In my past life, I had trained in martial arts with my grandfather for years. While I wasn’t exceptionally skilled, I was more than capable of handling ordinary thieves. Back then, my grandfather had drilled into me the idea that “those who learn martial arts should help others and stand up in times of danger,” which had ingrained in me the habit of stepping forward when I saw injustice.
I had acted out of habit, forgetting that my current body wasn’t the well–trained one from my past life.

Louis had initially wanted to stop Waylon, but then he remembered Freya mentioning that she’d lost her life in her past life because she’d tried to help someone. He decided to let it
slide.

Freya dragged her feet as she followed Louis.
