Chapter 154 A Pleasant Surprise
Chapter 154 A Pleasant Surprise
Life’s surprises always come when least expected!
Freya could practically see piles of cash waving at her.

If I write a few detective and fantasy novels, money won’t be a problem! I’m not planning to plagiarize -I had written similar stories in my past life and can easily innovate on those ideas. The possibilities are endless.
However, Ms. Emily’s detective novels were a different matter. I had adored them as a child, devouring every book and adaptation. I used to rush home after school to watch dramas with my parents, dreaming of flying through the air with magic. The stories left a deep impression on me.
But it felt like a waste to ignore such brilliant works. I had read Ms. Emily’s novels so many times I could nearly recite entire passages.
The thought stung–just before I came to this world, Ms. Emily had passed away.
Maybe I could publish under Ms. Emily’s pen name and donate all the royalties. It’d be a way to honor her legacy.
Still, I’d have to see how much I could write and how faithfully I could recreate the stories.
Lost in thought, Freya didn’t even notice the server bringing their food until Louis placed a piece of chicken on her plate. “What’s wrong? Are Heathcliff and Catherine that important?”
Snapping back to reality, she realized all three were staring at her. Flustered, she laughed it off.
“Don’t mind me. I just remembered something. It makes sense you haven’t heard of them- they’re from novels. As a writer, I’m used to discussing these things with other authors. Forget I mentioned it.”
Louis watched her thoughtfully.
Must be figures from her past life.
He didn’t press further, unaware how much those names would shake the literary world later.
Jasmine ate in her usual silence, and Freya, not wanting to bother her, focused on her meal instead.

Today has been unusually lively for me–not just because I’d met Jasmine, whom I adored, but because Jasmine is my first real friend in this world.
Taking that first step into real connections made everything feel more tangible, as if this world was no longer just an illusion but something solid.
Her good mood even made her eat more than usual, leading Louis to assume she liked the food.
I’ll bring her here more often.
He decided, though money was tight. For those he cared about, Louis never skimped.
After the meal, Jasmine prepared to leave. Waylon immediately offered to drive her home, leaving Freya and Louis behind.
“Where to now?” Louis asked once they were alone.
“I was going shopping, but I’m not in the mood anymore. I’ll head back. What about you?” Freya glanced around. With the car gone, how would Louis get argund?
“If you’re free, you can come to the company with me,” he said casually. “Derek will pick us up soon.”
