“There’s no issue at all. You’re Louis’s wife–that makes you our family. You’re practically the lady of the house, so of course it’s appropriate,” Derek said cheerfully, glancing at Louis to confirm he hadn’t overstepped.
Good, Louis showed no displeasure. That means I’m right.
Freya felt awkward.
Derek must not know the real nature of our relationship.“Lady of the house” was a title I couldn’t possibly accept.
“Uh, haha…”
“Let’s go inside,” Louis said, leading the way. Freya hurried after him.
Entering the research facility proved to be a hassle. Freya watched as Louis went through a series of security procedures, passing multiple checkpoints before they finally made it inside. Derek followed, occasionally explaining things to her, though much of it went over her head. She nodded along anyway, pretending to understand.
“Louis! The problem’s solved–I just ran the tests this afternoon, and everything’s finally working!” A figure rushed toward them the moment they stepped into the main hall, nearly crashing into Freya.
“Huh? Who are you?” The person skidded to a stop, staring at Freya in confusion.
Now that he’d paused, Freya got a good look at him–a young man in casual clothes, his hair disheveled and his outfit wrinkled. Handsome, but with the unmistakable aura of a
programmer.
Before she could answer, he suddenly pointed at her. “Wait, I remember now! You’re Louis’s wife, Freya! Holy crap, you’re even more stunning in person than in photos!”
“What? Louis’s wife?” Voices chorused from around the room. Heads popped up from behind monitors, and within seconds, a crowd had gathered around Freya.
She stiffened, startled.
Who are these people? Employees?
The questions came rapid–fire before she could even speak.

“Ahhh, how is she this gorgeous? Louis is one lucky man!”

“I’ve never seen beauty like this before. Who said Freya wasn’t reliable? With looks like that, I wouldn’t care if she wasn’t, just seeing her every day would be a treat!”
“My heart can’t take this. I have an arranged date this weekend, but after seeing Freya, how am I supposed to settle for anyone else? This is cruel!”
“If you can’t handle it, look away. I, for one, am feasting my eyes. Knees officially offered to Freya!”
“Freya’s skin is flawless. Ugh, of course us overtime workaholics could never compare. I thought beauties like this only existed on TV–today’s a miracle!”
“Get out of here! It’s not about the skin, it’s the face! Her face is so tiny, like it’d fit in my palm. Is this the legendary ‘palm–sized face‘? And those features, how are they so perfect?”
“Can you women stop being so shallow? Freya’s clearly more than just a pretty face. Look at her presence, she could outshine anyone! I’m officially jealous of Louis. If my future girlfriend is even half as stunning, I’d be satisfied.”
