“So this is what they call a VR MMO? I’m dying over here. The storyline, the gameplay–it’s so unbelievably trash.”
“I really thought VR MMO would be as amazing as it sounded in the novels. Turns out it’s just this? With that level of graphics and that completely weightless combat feel? This is supposed to be a VR MMO? Even today’s regular online games look better than this garbage!”
“Seriously, how much did the testers get paid to shamelessly hype up something this hopeless? Don’t they have a conscience? Wasting my time–aren’t they afraid of karmic retribution?”
“Screw this so–called VR MMO. Screw RealitySplit Group. You ruined my good impression of VR MMOS!”
Unfortunately for them, they were up against Kendrick–a man who feared no one and met every situation head–on. He let out a cold laugh.
“Complaining about the graphics and mechanics? What, are you blind or hard of hearing? You really didn’t see the part where it says this is an extremely condensed preview. Fine, maybe you missed that, but you didn’t hear me when I said this is just a general intro, we can’t even get into the game yet either?”
But Kendrick didn’t stop there. He sneered again.
“I’ve got zero patience for the haters. You love being one, huh? Fine, come on–drop your name. Give your real name. Since you think this game is trash, then don’t bother playing it in the future. I’ll tell my brother Louis to have the tech team blacklist you. VR MMO runs on real–name authentication; one ID per account. I’ll block you at the root so you can’t even get in. That way, this game won’t offend your delicate eyes.”
Freya had never seen a streamer go this hard before. Only Kendrick could pull off a statement like that. Still, saying something like this so publicly… could that hurt the reputation of Louis‘ VR MMO?
Family came first; there was no way she’d rebuke Kendrick in front of everyone. No matter how aggressive he got, she’d still applaud him. But this wasn’t her business–it was Louis. After hesitating for a moment, she took out her phone and sent Louis a message, then turned to glance next door. Louis, hearing the alert, picked up his phone, checked her text, and

A minute later, a message came through. Freya read: “Let him be. VR MMO doesn’t fear haters.”
Freya pondered. Well then. If the boss said it was fine, then it was fine.
Of course, the trolls didn’t give their real names. Kendrick let out a mocking chuckle.
“What now? You’re all having a great time hiding behind your screens, but when it comes time to face the music, you disappear? That cowardice–and you still dare show your face around here? Aren’t you embarrassed? When I post online, I use my real name. Ever heard the saying?”
Freya was curious what line he was going to drop–and then he said, “Had the heavens not given birth to me, the haters, the world of trolls would remain in darkness!”
Freya had just brought her juice to her lips and nearly spit it out laughing.
If she remembered right, that line came from some internet novel.
But as she looked back at the chat, it was all laughter now. Freya suddenly understood. This must be what people mean by presence.
Just a minute ago, the livestream was tense and combative; now the mood had totally flipped.
Kendrick added one last comment. “Next time you want to talk trash, use your real name. Don’t hide behind fake handles and play/dirty. I can’t stand that. And if it happens again, I’ll start taking screenshots and reporting you to the police. One by one, I’ll track you down. Don’t think I won’t.”
Most of the chat had now switched to cheering Kendrick on: “Bravo, Kendrick! Say what you will, the man’s bold. About time someone taught those trolls a lesson. Always hiding in the shadows and spouting filth–it’s disgusting.”
“The problem is that the cost of slander is way too low. Online security should really step up. Require real–name verification across the board. That way, people would think twice before doing something so stupid. Spread lies, and it’s straight to jail. That’s how it should be.”
“Only Kendrick dares to go this hard. If it were anyone else, no way they’d say this. But for real, if you don’t want to play, then scram. What’s the point of bas.. ing it here? You really think anyone with a brain is going to believe you?”
