About ten minutes later, Sophia received a call from Claire.
“The company just booked you for a magazine shoot. You don’t have to worry about the cameo anymore. Come back this afternoon–you’ve got to be on set for the shoot tomorrow.”
“What magazine? I’m only halfway through filming here; I’m stuck right in the middle. What’s Mr. Zane supposed to do?”
“No need to worry about that–we’ve already spoken to Mr. Zane. Someone else will take over. It’s a well–known magazine; it’ll boost your fashion cred. That’s more important than a cameo role. So hurry up–pack your things and get back here quickly.”
Claire didn’t mention which magazine it was, but she sounded serious enough. Sophia didn’t
were know much about the magazine industry, but she did know that magazine feature great for boosting a star’s fashion image. And with Louis likely having no time for her at the moment, Sophia quickly agreed.
After all, she hadn’t come here for the role in the first place. Plus, Mr. Zane was impossible to please, and the witch role was difficult. She was more than happy to leave.

“Don’t worry–if the actress is open to it, I’ll tell her everything I know.”
“It’s not about explaining the scene. The problem is–we haven’t found the right person yet.”
Freya’s chest tightened. Wait, was he planning to cut the role entirely?
“Mr. Zane, are you thinking of removing the character? But even though she doesn’t appear much, she’s crucial. The female lead’s entire personality is shaped by her. This impacts the plot moving forward, and the earlier narrative foundations all come from her. If you take her out, it’s going to create a ton of logical holes.”
“No, no–of course not! I’d never cut her. If I didn’t think the character was important, 1 wouldn’t have tolerated Sophia dragging this out for so many days,” Mr. Zane quickly assured her.
“It’s just–we really can’t find the right person. But just now, I saw you walk across the set, and it hit me, you’re perfect for the role. So, how about it? Want to give it a try?”
“Me?” Freya was stunned. “I’ve never acted before. How could that possibly work?”
“Why not? Look at you–you’ve got the looks, your expressions are vivid, and your understanding of the character is second to none. Plus, it’s a small part. It’s a great opportunity to challenge yourself.”
Worried she’d turn him down, Zane pressed on.
“With some light makeup, you’d be the witch just standing there. If you’re nervous about your expressions, we’ll adjust the camera angles–make it work without putting pressure on you. Honestly, it’s simple, just get into costume and stand there. You’ll do great. And you don’t want this role to be scrapped, do you?”
“But…” Freya still didn’t feel it was right. She really had never acted a day in her life.
Clara had just finished her scene and happened to catch what Mr. Zane was saying. In that instant, she figured out exactly what was going on. Instinctively, her mind superimposed Sophia’s costume onto Freya. And–wow. Freya was the witch.
Clara’s eyes lit up. She’d always loved the witch character and thought it was a shame to see Sophia cast in the role. If she hadn’t already taken a supporting part, she would’ve grabbed it for herself.
