“I was such a shrew.” Freya pouted.
“No, everything you said was right–completely justified.” Louis cupped her face, his voice. dripping with affection. “You were stunning when you said all that.”
Unable to resist, Freya suddenly wrapped her arms around him and sighed. “How are you this perfect? Maybe I came to this world just to meet you.”
Louis held her tight, his voice dropping lower. “Then you’ll have to stay. No leaving.”
“Mhm. As long as you don’t betray me in this lifetime, I won’t go anywhere.” Freya tilted her head up and impulsively kissed his chin–just because she wanted to.
Louis shuddered, then lifted her face from his chest and captured her lips in a deep kiss.
By the time they broke apart, Freya’s entire face was flushed. She buried herself against Louis‘ chest, too embarrassed to look up. Louis, grinning more openly than ever, asked, “Not watching the movie anymore?”
“I am! I’ve been studying facial expressions and body language for my writing.” Freya bolted upright, keeping her eyes glued to the screen as if to prove her dedication.
Louis chuckled and hit play, letting her play the ostrich.
Early on, Freya had worried Louis might pressure her to let him stay overnight. Thankfully, he never did. He always booked the room next door, and when it was time to sleep, he’d leave without her having to say a word.
The next day, Louis left, and Freya stayed with the crew for another week. Since the other actors were reliable, no further issues arose. Everyone cooperated, and filming progressed smoothly–not just catching up on lost time but even getting ahead of schedule.
That night, they were shooting a late scene. Freya’s workload wasn’t heavy, so by late afternoon, she was in high spirits, scrolling through her phone and debating what to eat for dinner. Then Louis called unexpectedly early.
“Are you still on set?”
“Yes, why?” Freya found it odd he usually called much later.
“Waylon says Ms. Jasmine is heading your way. She’s unfamiliar with the area, so he asked if

business, supposedly. Details are unclear, but it’s not that simple. Don’t worry–if you’re busy, focus on your work. But if you’re free, try contacting her.”
“Got it.”
After hanging up, Freya immediately messaged Jasmine on WhatsApp, not daring to call outright.
“Jasmine, what’ve you been up to? Haven’t heard from you in three days. I’ve been swamped on set, but their fight scenes look fake. Got any tips?”
Normally, Jasmine replied quickly to requests for help. But this time, 10 minutes passed with no response.
Freya caved and called. The phone rang forever before Jasmine picked up, her voice hushed. “What is it?”
“Jasmine, are you busy?”
“Yes, a little.”
“I heard you’re at my filming location. Free for dinner tonight? I wanted to ask you something.”
A pause. “Okay, but I might be late.”
Freya agreed eagerly. “No problem! I’m a night owl anyway. Just let me know when.”
An hour later, Louis arrived with a harried–looking Waylon in tow. Freya had already gotten permission from Zane to leave. As they headed out for dinner, she asked, “What’s going on? Jasmine didn’t explain much–just said she was busy but agreed to meet later.”
“Let’s find somewhere private first.” Waylon looked frustrated.
They settled into a quiet bar, ordered drinks and snacks, and got down to the matter.
Waylon’s expression was grim as he laid it out. Basically, he’d confessed to mine, she’d rejected him, and after much effort, he’d finally smoothed things over–only for her to act fine, then take on a dangerous mission and disappear here.
