In the end, she had no choice but to take out pen and paper and start jotting things down like she was taking class notes–complete with commentary and analysis. It actually looked pretty legit.
Louis had just finished signing off on a few documents. When he looked up and noticed Freya’s odd posture, he quietly got up and walked over. One glance at her notes and he nearly burst out laughing.
On the page she had scrawled a list of luxury brands with her own blunt commentary for each one: “Carrington had that loud, flashy vibe, perfect for trust–fund kids trying to flex. Mira Vale leaned into a soft, artsy look, great for pretending to be cultured with just the right amount of dreamy drama. Evelyne Grace gave off old–money elegance, ideal for looking refined while subtly showing off abroad.”
Just the first few entries were enough to leave Louis both amused and speechless. Whatever he had originally planned to say to her instantly changed.
“This actually isn’t a bad approach,” he said. “You’ll have a clear idea of each brand’s style this way. But you don’t need to go into so much detail–if you see something you like, just buy it. Even if you don’t end up using it, it’s fine. When there’s an occasion to attend, a stylist will handle the outfit.”
Freya jumped at the sudden sound of his voice; her hand slipped and made a long mark across the page. She let out a helpless sigh.
“Can you not walk so quietly? You scared me half to death.”
Louis simply sat down beside her and wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder while glancing over her notes.
“No need to make it such hard work. I told you to go shopping so you’d enjoy it. If you like pretty clothes, bags, or jewelry, just get them. Don’t feel like you have to study for it. We can always have a stylist figure that stuff out for you. Of course, if you’re thinking about getting into the fashion industry someday, that’s a different story.”
“Alright then, I’ll just browse casually. Don’t you need to get back to work?”
Louis stood and helped Freya to her feet. “You’ve been sitting a while–time to stretch a bit.”
He led her into another partitioned area, and only then did Freya realize there was a whole mini gym set up. It wasn’t packed, but the variety of equipment was decent.

“A healthy body is the foundation of good work–especially since I sit for long periods. But honestly, you’re the one who needs the exercise more than I do.”
Louis guided her over to the machines and helped her warm up.
It wasn’t anything too intense, just some light movement, and Freya went along with it willingly. As she worked out, she chatted: “Don’t underestimate me–I’m actually pretty capable. But you’re right; I should work on building more strength.”
“I’ll make sure we get some gym equipment installed at the house too,” Louis added to his mental checklist, “so you won’t feel cooped up at home.”
“Oh, speaking of houses–most people are in such a rush to get their family home back. Don’t you need to reclaim yours?”
Freya had just remembered.
“The old house has always been in my hands. I only temporarily transferred the ownership under someone else’s name. It’s not the most convenient place to live, but if you like it, we could always move back in.”
Louis‘ tone was flat when he mentioned the old house, like it was just another
property.
“You don’t feel anything for it?” she asked.
“It’s fine. But when grandpa was alive, relatives from the Graham family kept showing up asking for help. It was always loud and chaotic. I didn’t really like going there. When I was little, I lived with my parents elsewhere. Later on, I left to study early, so I didn’t spend much time in the old house.”
Louis understood what Freya was really asking. “That place’s only real value is being the ancestral home. That’s about it.”
“Oh. I’m good with living anywhere–it’s up to you.”
After working out for a while, Freya stepped aside and let Louis take his turn. She stood nearby and watched, unable to deny that–while Louis didn’t look bulky–he had plenty of well–defined muscle. When his shirt slipped, she even caught sight of his abs.
He was incredibly focused while exercising; every movement was precise and perfectly executed. Freya considered herself pretty disciplined, but standing next to him, she realized their styles were completely different.

She was all about instinct and flow–probably a holdover from her martial arts training as a kid. As long as she stretched the muscles she wanted to work, that was enough. But Louis was all structure and discipline; they couldn’t have been more opposite.
After his workout and a quick rinse, Freya settled back down to continue her luxury–brand research. This time, though, it felt way more relaxed. Whenever she saw something she liked, she just added it to the shopping cart, planning to sort through it all later.
