“Since we’re friends now, I’ll share something with you. I’m guessing you’ve never really paid much attention to these people before, so you might not see through them,” Hannah said with a bright smile–though her words would’ve ruined the appetites of half the women in their circle.
“All those girls trying to cozy up to you? They’re all playing the same game. A few of them even have their eyes on Mr. Graham. I don’t think they’ll get anywhere, but still–be careful. You’re hot property right now. You used to be the one everyone envied in that group. Now they’re probably seething even more.”
“Only nobodies avoid jealousy. They can think what they want. It’s not like I plan to get close to any of them. I’ve got a ton of my own stuff going on–no time to live the idle life I used
to.”
“Good. As long as you know.”
What stood out most to Hannah was how all of Freya’s old resentment and unrest had vanished.
Now she carried herself with calm confidence and steady poise. It made her beauty stand out even more than before–she was striking. No wonder Louis liked her.
Thinking back to all the gossip those women had been spewing in the group chat, Hannah couldn’t help sneering to herself. Jealousy, envy, petty concerns–nothing more. Even if Louis somehow lost all sense, he’d never fall for any of them. They could scheme all they wanted, but the truth was, Freya wasn’t who she used to be Their little dreams were doomed to fail.

Inside the car, Freya looked surprised. “You came? Weren’t you super busy today?”
“There’s a gala tonight–I have to attend. I’ll take you to get ready first, and we’ll grab something to eat.”
“A gala? Isn’t this a bit rushed? I haven’t prepared anything.” Freya started to panic. “It’s already past four!”
“It’s fine. It doesn’t start until seven. Besides, you’re beautiful, and you’re my wife–even if you dress plain, no one’s going to think anything of it. In fact, they’ll probably think you’re charmingly down–to–earth.”
Freya swore she heard amusement in his voice. “Yeah, but I don’t want to show up as that person who stands out in a weird way!
“That might be tough,” Louis said with a smirk. With his current rise and Freya’s looks, there was no way they wouldn’t draw attention–that was a given.
“Well, either way, I’ll just keep it normal and blend in.” Freya paused. “You’ve already arranged everything, haven’t you?”
“Mhm. Don’t worry, it’s all set. Aiden’s already there too. Just listen to the stylist when you get there. At the event, you can relax and enjoy yourself.”
Freya could hear the unmistakable confidence in his voice. She teased, “So even if I embarrass myself, you won’t mind?”
“No one would dare laugh at you. And even if something does happen, I’ll take care of it. Anyone who mocks you–I’ll make sure they regret it.” Louis turned toward her, his voice thick with affection.
Freya blushed. “Alright then–I won’t be afraid.”
Honestly, there wasn’t much to worry about. She’d already been through this She wasn’t clueless, and no one expected her to do anything special. All she has to do was show up, eat, drink, and waste some time. No big deal.

“I’ll give you my number later, but no need for dinner–let’s just grab a snack,” Freya replied with a bright smile that left everyone around her completely stunned.
