A sudden swarm of women descended, interrupting Freya and Aiden’s conversation.
They all started chirping at once, talking over each other so loudly that to Freya, it sounded like a flock of ducks quacking in her ears. She quickly raised a hand for quiet.
“One at a time, please. How am I supposed to reply like this? Come on, let’s all sit and talk slowly. Did you all come together?”

It always made for a picturesque scene. In her memories, the visual was quite striking–after all, it was a crowd of glamorous women in full makeup and luxury gowns. Even if they weren’t supermodels, they were still far above average, thanks to all that skincare and maintenance..
“Oh, what a coincidence, then. Must be fate–we’re always running into each other,” Freya said, holding back a laugh.

It sounded pleasant enough, but really, it was sarcasm. These women could preen all they wanted, but nobody important was watching. The ones who actually mattered didn’t have time for these antics. All this primping was just self–entertainment.
“Freya, I haven’t seen you in forever. You’ve been doing well, haven’t you? I invited you. shopping, but you never seemed to be free,” said one in a blue dress, edging closer to Freya with a faux–sweet tone.
Before Freya could reply, a woman in a pink dress latched onto her arm and cooed in an even more syrupy voice, “Don’t be like that. Freya’s just been busy! Didn’t you know she’s a writer and screenwriter now? She’s not who she used to be, right Freya?”
Freya hadn’t even answered yet when the woman in blue jumped back in.
“Still, no matter how busy you are, you need to take breaks. If you wear yourself out, what then? And honestly, the Graham family doesn’t need the little money Freya makes. It’s just something to keep her busy.”
“Ugh, you never take anything seriously. Don’t assume Freya’s like you. She’s worked with real film crews. I heard that famous screenwriter–Mr. Daniel–praised her, you know.”
“I never said working was wrong. I just meant Freya should balance work and rest. Did you even listen to what I said, or are you just here to argue?”
“Even if she should balance things out, that doesn’t mean she has to go shopping with you. She could go with me to look at architecture. That’s way more helpful for her writing. Besides, your taste is totally different–what use would that be to her?”
“Oh please, your so–called architecture knowledge is all over the place. Don’t go misleading Freya. If she takes your advice and writes something wrong, people will tear her apart once it airs!”
“You-! Who are you calling useless? You’re one to talk. Your jewelry design degree isn’t worth much either. You couldn’t help Freya if you tried! At least I can tell architectural styles. apart!”
