“Alright, alright, I’ll stop singing. Happy now?” Baylon muttered awkwardly.
Freya finally understood why Kendrick had been acting that way carlier. No wonder he’d been so insistent on singing with Baylon.
When Louis let go of her ears, he casually grazed the edge of her skin with his fingers. Freya’s face instantly turned bright red. Thankfully, he didn’t do anything else and quickly suggested they head home.
Kendrick and Baylon were reluctant to break up the group since it was rare to have everyone together. But with Waylon looking distracted and Louis clearly itching to get some alone time with Freya, they could only sigh and agree.
The three other guys could look after themselves–they were grown men after all. Louis took Freya and Aiden home.
By the time they got back, Aiden was clearly past his bedtime. Without being told, he obediently went to wash up and get ready for bed. Once he was tucked in, only Freya and Louis were left in the living room.
Freya handed him a glass of water. “It’s late. No more tea.”
Back when he was younger, Louis had occasionally imagined what it might be like to have a wife handing him tea in the evening. In the soft glow of the living room lamp, Freya was bathed in warm light. That once–fuzzy vision in his mind suddenly matched reality–now real, vivid, and so heart–meltingly sweet.
Freya stared blankly as Louis took the glass from her hand and set it down on the table. Then she felt his arm slide around her waist. In the next moment, he leaned in. Her first instinct was to lean back, but his hand gently cupped the back of her head–and then her breath was stolen away.
Louis had always been gentle and restrained with her. But this time, his intensity, overwhelmed her. For the first time, Freya truly felt the force of this man’s presence pressing in around her.
She’d once secretly imagined herself as a queen, with Louis wrapped around her finger. But now she realized–he had never once pressured her. All this time, he’d been holding back, letting her do as she pleased.

All that calm, that grace–it was an illusion. The man in front of her had always been dominant.
When the kiss ended, Freya tried to speak, but her knees buckled and she nearly collapsed. Louis caught her easily, as if he’d been expecting it. With one smooth motion, he pulled her into his arms and sank into the rattan chair, setting her on his lap, both arms wrapped around her.
She felt a gentle weight settle on her shoulder.
“I missed you,” came his husky whisper, warm breath brushing against her ear. Freya jolted like she’d been burned, nearly springing out of his arms–but his hold on her waist was firm. She couldn’t move.
“I–I’m right here though…” she stammered. Weren’t they together every day?
Louis sighed softly, tightening his embrace, but said nothing more.
Freya’s cheeks were burning. But Louis didn’t speak again or make any further move–he just held her. And she had no idea what to say or do.
Louis had a presence that was impossible to ignore. Being held like this, Freya could feel the heat and pressure of his entire being. Just as she was about to ask if he was feeling down, he kissed her ear.
She flinched, then melted completely in his arms. And he didn’t stop–another kiss followed, then the faintest brush of lips along her ear as he murmured, “You…”
That sighing tone, full of affection, made Freya’s heart ache. Curled in his arms, face flushed deep red, she felt him hold back–Louis was restraining himself, she could feel it. And she understood why.
In her eyes, their relationship hadn’t reached that point yet.
“What about me?” she asked softly. His tone had made her heart ache for him. She didn’t even know why–but she suddenly felt deeply tender toward him.
Louis didn’t let go. “Let’s move soon.”
“So soon?” Freya had known it was coming, but still hadn’t expected it this quickly.
“Yeah. I’ve found a place. Everything’s already being prepared. We’ll go as soon as it’s ready.”

The sooner they moved in, the sooner he could give her the massive walk–in closet she deserved. The sooner they could live together properly. The house would be fully staffed so she wouldn’t have to lift a finger. And most importantly–he’d be able to see her whenever he wanted.
