Chapter 324 The Ripple Effect
Chapter 324 The Ripple Effect
“I didn’t stay long enough to find any bugs,” Freya said confidently, recalling her brief gaming
session.
Micky and John exchanged panicked looks. “Actually, Freya,” Micky began with an awkward smile, “we made a mistake sending you there. That section’s still under development. We’ll
got have you test it after we finish the updates. Right now, we’ve other work to handle- maybe Louis can keep you company?”
“Yeah, we’re swamped,” John chimed in. “If you want to keep playing, Louis can join you. We’ll catch you later!”
“Oh, don’t worry about me. I can manage on my own now that I know the controls,” Freya assured them.
Once the two hurried off, Freya turned to Louis. Checking her watch, she frowned. “I thought you had something? You finished already?”
“Mm.” Louis didn’t mention he’d rushed through two matters before spotting her location in the game’s backend data. The brothel scenario had triggered all his alarms.
“Should we leave?” Freya hopped down from the gaming pod.
“We can stay if you want to play more. Otherwise, let’s go.”
“Let’s head out. I can always log in later.”
They left the research institute and drove to another corporate building–one Freya didn’t recognize. Though she’d heard of this world’s major companies, her knowledge was limited. to the top few. This one, she vaguely recalled, specialized in climate control systems.
“Is this yours too?” Freya whispered, tugging Louis‘ sleeve before they entered,
“Partial stake. Silent partner,” Louis clarified, guiding her past the front desk without checking
- in.
Employees lining the hallway greeted him with respectful “Good afternoon, Mr. Graham’s, which he acknowledged with anod before steering Freya toward a private elevator.
“Are we here for business?” Freya hesitated. “Won’t I be in the way?”
If this is not his own company, then bringing me might be a bit unsuitable right?

“No one will comment. And you’re hardly an outsider. Louis‘ quiet reassurance eased her
nerves.
As the elevator doors closed behind them, the lobby crupted.
“I can’t believe it–Mr. Graham brought a woman! And he was speaking softly to her!”
“That must be Mrs. Graham. Rumor says he spoiled his wife rotten. She’s even prettier than I imagined!”
“Wait, I heard his wife was some gold–digger. This could be a new girlfriend. Still, that face could launch ships. If I looked like that… I might already be married into an elite family.
“Typical male thinking. As if Mr. Graham would settle for just a pretty face. A rich man can always get whatever type of woman.”
“Oh please, every woman here dreams of marrying him. Admit you’re jealous she’s got both looks and brains!”
Unaware of the stir she’d caused, Freya found herself settled in Louis‘ minimalist corner office. An assistant promptly brought tea, pastries, and a laptop.
“I’ve got a meeting later,” Louis said, adjusting his cuffs. “This is my office. Make yourself at home–work, browse, or explore the mall nearby. If you need help carrying shopping bags, ask any staffer. Call me if anything comes up.”
