Chapter 334 Team Aiden Takes the Lead
“Alright, alright–cool and awesome. I’ll make sure you look cool and awesome in every shot,” Freya said, giving in with a smile.
Once the event officially started, Freya quickly realized just how different a family sports day was from the usual school events. The first activity? A three–legged race.
After a quick explanation from the teacher, Freya learned the rules: each family of three had to tie their legs together in pairs and run in sync to the finish line. Whoever crossed the finish line together first won.
“Are you ready for this?” Freya asked Aiden, raising a brow. She’d done something similar back in college, only worse–it involved five people tied together. That was complete chaos.
“Of course I’m ready,” Aiden said, full of confidence. He stood up and grabbed the red ribbons the teacher handed out. “You and Uncle Louis just need to keep up.”
“We’ll be fine,” Freya said, amused. “We’re adults–we’ll follow your lead. But don’t go charging ahead and messing up the rhythm.”
She figured it made the most sense to have Aiden in the middle.
“Wait, hold on–you’re putting me in the middle?” Aiden looked horrified. “That’s not going to work. I think you should go in the middle.”
“Nope, that won’t do,” Freya replied. “I’m an adult–you’re the kid. We can match your pace, but you definitely won’t be able to match ours. Look around–every kid’s in the middle.”
Aiden glanced at the other groups. Sure enough, Leo was waving at him from a few feet away, already tying ribbons around his legs with his parents.
After a short pause, Aiden gave in. “Fine, I’ll go in the Timing is everything!”

Louis, ever chill, flicked Aiden lightly on the forehead. “You talk too much. Tie the ribbons.”
Knowing Louis wasn’t about to help, Aiden crouched down to tie his, and when Freya leaned over to do hers, Louis took the ribbon from her hands.
“I’ve got it,” he said, crouching down to help her. While tying, he glanced at Aiden. “Don’t tie it too tight–you’ll trip yourself.”

Aiden rolled his eyes and muttered under his breath. Of course Uncle only cares about Freya He all about Freya now–totally forgot about me.
They lined up at the starting line, ready to go. At the whistle, families took off running.
Freya focused on matching Aiden’s pace. Louis, with his longer stride, had no problem adjusting. As for Aiden, he was all in–fired up and ready the second the race began. The three of them moved in synce and quickly pulled ahead.
Since it was an elementary school event, the track wasn’t long. In no time, they crossed the finish line–first place.
Before Aiden could even react, Chloe–who had been waiting on the sidelines–was already cheering at the top of her lungs. “Yes! I knew Aiden would win! First place! You’re amazing, Aiden!”
Leo had raced in the same heat and finished second. He looked pretty happy with it and ran over to hug Aiden the second the race ended. Aiden, however, kept his usual serious face- like winning first place was no big deal.
Freya winced as the ribbon dug into her ankle. She quickly bent down to untie it. Then, she leaned down to check on Aiden. “You okay? That didn’t hurt your leg, did it?”
Aiden waved her off like it was nothing. “I’m good. Didn’t even notice.”
Louis reached over to steady Freya as she stood. “He’s a kid. Of course he didn’t feel it. Come on–let’s take a break before the next event.”
Freya nodded, letting him lead her back to their seats.
Aiden hadn’t signed up for the second event. But he was set to compete in the third one–the relay.
“I’ve never been great at running. I don’t really have a strong start,” Freya said nervously. Running had always been her least favorite part of school.
“It’s just for fun.” Louis said calmly, cutting in before Aiden could comment.
In this relay, each team had three members. Multiple teams ran at once. Freya was up first so that even if she fell behind a bit, Aiden and Louis could catch up.
When the whistle blew, Freya ran her leg as fast as she could–right in the middle of the pack. Aiden took the handoff and shot ahead, outrunning most of the other kids. Louis brought it home, passing the last runner and crossing the line in first.
