Freya scooted her chair a little closer to Louis, resting her chin in her hands, eyes sparkling.
“Louis, tell me about the Scott family, pretty please? It’ll help with my novel research.”
Louis tilted his head slightly in her direction. “What’s in it for me?”
Freya’s eyes lit up. She suddenly held up a piece of mung bean cake to his lips. “Say ah.”
Louis went along with it, chewed and swallowed, then shook his head. “Not enough.”
Freya stood up and planted a loud kiss on his forehead. “This fairy grants you one–of–a–kind good luck.”
“Still not enough,” Louis said, shaking his head again.
Freya slapped her hands over her face and went silent.
Louis thought she was upset and panicked a little, trying to gently pull her hands away. “What’s wrong? Are you mad?”
But Freya just kept her face hidden, voice low and exaggeratedly gloomy. “This little fairy doesn’t know enough. So embarrassing. I can’t face people.”
Louis couldn’t help but laugh. Playing along, he said, “It’s not the fairy’s fault. You only just descended to the mortal world, you’re still learning. Let this humble mortal fill you in.”
Freya lowered her hands, face aglow, eyes bright. “Hurry, tell me!”
“Dean’s dad made his fortune by marrying into his first wife’s family. She was the only daughter of Jordan, who used to be a giant in the entertainment world. Sadly, Jordan died young in an accident, and his daughter had poor health. She passed away not long after. Some people suspected Dean’s dad had a hand in her death, but nothing was ever confirmed.”
“And then?”
“Not much. After inheriting his father–in–law’s vast wealth, Dean’s dad dropped the mild- mannered act he kept up while Jordan was alive. He ruthlessly crushed anyone who tried to compete for the inheritance and purged the company staff. That’s how his rise really began. Later, he married a second wife, and with his messy private life, just muddled along until now.”
“But that’s weird. Isn’t the Womez family the real giant? How was Jordan a giant too?”

Still, the Womez family didn’t make any big moves out of concern for the higher–ups‘ opinions. Plus, more companies started entering the industry over time, and the Womez family expanded into other sectors. So they all maintained this delicate balance.”
“So now it’s like this: the Womez family and the Scott family dominate most of the market, and the rest of the companies coexist?”
“More or less,” Louis said, offering her a piece of cantaloupe. “After this, the Scott family’s spot will probably be taken over by someone else.”
“But didn’t you say the Scott family was super powerful? Why are you so sure they’re going to fall?”
“Because the Scott family hasn’t been powerful for a long time. They’ve been on a downward trend for years. People just kept assuming they were still strong because of their legacy and never really went after them. But a lot of folks have started to realize they’re all show and no substance. Just look at their recent work, nothing’s blown up in years. That alone tells you a lot.”
“So once Kendrick and the others rip off that mask and show everyone the Scott family can be taken down, all those new, hungry companies will pounce. Even if the Womez family can’t completely swallow them up, they’ll still be able to suppress any company at critical moments. And the higher–ups? They’ll probably be happy to see a more diverse, competitive
- industry.”
“Very good. This fairy really is clever,” Louis said with a rare touch of pride. He didn’t usually enjoy teaching, but Freya was sharper than he’d expected–he couldn’t help but leased.
“Mr. Graham, Mrs. Graham, the latest season’s brand magazines just arrived,” Marilyn said as she brought in more dishes.
Freya tilted her head. “What’s that?”
“They’re fashion lookbooks from all the major brands,” Marilyn explained. “Mr. Graham told them to send over a copy whenever there’s a new release. If anything catches your eye, just pick it, and they’ll send over your size.”
She added warmly, “You’ve got such a great figure and beautiful skin, Mrs. Graham- everything looks good on you. But it seems like you don’t have many clothes, so it’s time to treat yourself and pick out a few more.”
Freya looked at Louis in surprise. “You set this up?”
“They didn’t have anything new before, but now they do, so go ahead and take a look. If you like anything, just buy it all. You look good in everything. Zoey does this too.
