At least that’s something. Alright, I confirm I want to pursue the hidden character. Sophia thought, letting out a sigh of relief.
There weren’t any better options anyway. After all this time and effort, she still hadn’t seen a single glimmer of hope from Louis. She wasn’t giving up–but she wasn’t going to keep slamming into the same wall either. Having a backup option gave her at least a sliver of hope.
Right as she made her decision, her phone rang–Claire was calling, and she’d barely been

for a few minutes.
Sophia picked up, and Claire’s voice on the other end sounded thrilled.
“I just got some amazing news. Tomorrow night, Mr. Andres from the Ruby family is

A friend of mine managed to snag one, but she can’t go now, so I asked for it on your behalf. One minute she was talking to the system about hidden characters; the next, she was handed an invite to a top–tier party. Sophia immediately assumed the hidden character would be there, so she said yes on the spot,/She even asked Claire to help her get styled for the event, and Claire agreed without hesitation.
While Sophia and Claire were still discussing the banquet, Louis had just finished signing the last of his documents. It suddenly hit him that the banquet was tomorrow. He set down his pen and turned to speak to Freya.
Freya was in the zone, typing furiously as her ideas flowed. Her imagination was running wild, and she hadn’t even noticed Louis.

“Mm–hmm. I just got hit with a wave of inspiration. What’s up? Done with work?” Freya responded without even pausing, her fingers still tapping away on the keyboard.
“Not quite. I just wanted to let you know–Mr. Andres from the Ruby family is throwing a birthday banquet tomorrow night. We need to attend.” Louis figured Freya wouldn’t know much about the Ruby family, so he explained before she could ask:
“The Ruby family made their fortune in the rubber business years ago. Later, they branched out into maritime industries. They’ve been doing well financially in recent years and have strong ties with people in high places. Most folks give them a lot of respect–nobody wants to cross them. Back when Grandpa was sick, Mr. Andres even sent his personal doctor to help. So we owe him. That’s why we have to go.”
“Oh, that makes sense,” Freya said, nodding. “We definitely should go, especially since he helped back then. I’ll get my hair and makeup done in the afternoon. Should I come to your office to meet you, or are you picking me up?”
“I’ll go
with you.
We should head over early anyway.” Louis had already cleared his schedule for the afternoon. He wasn’t about to miss a chance to spend more time with her.
“Alright, I’ll follow your lead.”
Andres’s birthday banquet was, without a doubt, the most extravagant event Freya had ever attended.
Only after seeing it did she truly understand the meaning of opulence. The exterior decorations alone were jaw–dropping, and the interior was no less dazzling. It was definition of rich and flashy.
