“Ms. Sophia,” Kendrick began, his tone stripped of amusement, “I hope you’re smart enough to know where you stand. Be clear about who you are and what role you’re playing. Don’t act like you’re some big–shot celebrity just because you’ve starred in a few low–tier dramas. If you mess up, own it. Learn from it and move on.”
Did she really think they didn’t catch her subtle barbs? Trying to shift blame to someone else while implying Freya was petty for not forgiving her?
Please.
Freya hadn’t even taken her seriously to begin with. And even if she had refused to forgive her–so what? Who said someone had to accept an apology just because it was offered? Especially one as hollow and self–serving as this?
If they really wanted to play hardball, Freya had every right to embarrass her publicly. And what could Sophia even do about it?
“I truly meant my apology to Freya,” Sophia said meekly, because anything else would’ve made things worse.
Freya waved her off, visibly bored with the whole performance.
“It’s fine. We were never friends to begin with. I accept your apology, and I hope we never run into each other again. I don’t need fake friends. Just seeing your face is annoying, and I can’t guess what kind of schemes you’ve got going on in that head of yours.”
She was done with the act. Sophia had been the one who clung to her from the start, all
eless and transparent.. smiles and fake warmth. Her plotting wasn’t even subtle–it was sl Freya had ignored her up until now because she hadn’t considered her worth the trouble. But if they weren’t real friends, there was no reason to keep up the charade.
Sophia opened her mouth to speak, but Freya raised a hand to cut her off.
“I already know what you’re going to say. But let me make it simple. If your agent really acted alone, then that just means you’re incompetent. And if she didn’t? Then you’re just a bad person. Either way, you don’t meet my standards for friendship. No need to force anything- we’re not from the same world, We weren’t close to begin with.”
Sophia was speechless. She never imagined Freya would be this blunt. Who even said things like that to someone’s face?
“I like that,” a new voice chimed in–cool and pleasant. Heads turned to see Ms. Adeline walking over.

With a radiant smile, she looked directly at Freya. “Freya, was it? I love that attitude. Clear, honest, no nonsense. People who are always scheming usually end up with nothing. What’s the point? And too much scheming only leads to wrinkles.”
The moment Sophia saw Adeline, her heart dropped. She’d done her homework before attending this was someone from the Ruby family. Someone not to be crossed. Unlike Freya, Adeline wasn’t the type to let things slide. Polished on the surface, ice–cold underneath.
Seeing a window to retreat with dignity, Sophia seized the chance before Adeline could step in.
“If you don’t want to be friends, I understand,” she said quickly. “Apologizing was enough for me. As long as you’re willing to forgive me, that’s all I could ask for.”
It wasn’t perfect, but it would have to do. At least now, those two men from earlier wouldn’t dare bother her again–not after she’d been publicly dismissed by Louis Graham’s wife. They wouldn’t risk offending him just to mess with her.
It was a bitter thought.
But Sophia could only swallow the shame. She was just an actress. Reputation took years to build and seconds to destroy. And anyone here could ruin her with a single word.
She clenched her teeth, furious at Claire for ruining everything–and furious she couldn’t even say it aloud. She bowed slightly to Freya, then quickly made her exit.
Adeline watched her leave with a small sneer, clearly unimpressed. She took the seat next to Freya, tossing a glance at Louis’s stormy expression, then lifted her brow.
