Chapter 59 I Didn’t
“I didn’t!” Freya said weakly.

Louis gave her a sidelong glance, and she immediately deflated. “Okay, fine. I did eat some snacks… but it was just one cup of jelly, a box of cookies, a small bag of popcorn, and half a bag of chips.”
Louis was silent for a moment. “Just?”
Uh.. now that she said it out loud, it did sound like kind of a lot. “But the combined weight of all that isn’t even two pounds!”
“Oh.
Yes, so what if she had snacks? What girl didn’t? And it really wasn’t that much. The only reason she gained weight was because this body was naturally petite, so any extra showed up right away. She’d been trying so hard to maintain her weight, hadn’t she? She even ate less for dinner to make up for it!
*Snacks are full of additives. Better to cut back. If you really want something, just go out and get it. I’ll figure out the money,” Louis said
Freya hadn’t expected him to say that. The little spark of irritation in her chest was instantly extinguished. His face was still calm as always, but the concern behind his words was real.
Honestly, Louis really was a good person. He wasn’t being mean–he was sincerely looking out for her. That made her feel instantly guilty.
“Got it. I’ll try not to eat snacks anymore.” It’s not like she had to eat them. She could easily hold back. And knowing their financial situation wasn’t great, she couldn’t justify going out to spend money just to satisfy a craving. –
Louis didn’t say anything more, and Freya quietly finished her meal. After washing the dishes, she resumed her usual evening routine–writing.
This time, Louis didn’t ignore her. He came out of the bedroom and sat down beside her.
“I talked to the guys today. They won’t act like they did earlier anymore. The misunderstanding they had about you has been cleared up. So if they visit again, you don’t have to make a point of leaving.”
By the guys, he must mean his brothers?
“You mean your brothers?” Freya asked cautiously.
Louis nodded. She waved it off.
“It’s fine. Whether they misunderstood me or not doesn’t matter. They’re your brothers, not mine–I don’t mind. Besides, it makes sense they’d look down on me. I’m not someone they’d respect anyway. We can just stay out of each other’s way. When they come over, I’ll stay out of sight. It’s easier for you to talk to them that way. And for the record, I really did have something to do today.”
Louis didn’t call her out or push her. “Okay. Are you still working on your novel?”
“Yup.”
“Did you finish your movie?”
Freya: Almost. I’ll finish it when I have time.”
“If you don’t want me to know what you’re watching, you could always use headphones.”
Louis had to go and say exactly the kind of thing that made her want to smack him. She silently withdrew the hand she was about to use to grab her cup, smiled stiffly, and said, “Heh… why would I care if you knew?”
What, did he think he was some kind of intellectual god?
Louis didn’t reply to that. Instead, he picked up her cup and handed it to her. “If you want to write a good novel, watching movies alone won’t help. You have to analyze them. I don’t mind being distracted, so you’re free to watch whatever you want.”
