Chapter 100
Chapter 100
Ms. Langley…” Anathea murmured, her eyes pricked with tears.
“Call me if you have issues with the floral design. So what if I said was busy? You should’ve kept pushing until I made time. You’ll never get anywhere being this sensitive,” Aspen ciided.
Embarrassed, Anathea nodded earnestly, “Understood. Thank you Ms. Langley,”
“Don’t thank me yet. Thank me when you’ve got something to shipy for it. Anyway, I’ve got places to be. I can’t stand around talking all day,” Aspen said with a falut smile.
The elevator chimed as it reached their floor, the doors parting
At that moment, Gregory walked out of the private room and noticed Aspen, Anathea, and Evangeline together.
Aspen caught sight of him but barely spared him a glance before shifting her attention back to Anathea. “Look, I know you might not want to hear this, but I’ve got to say it anyway.”
Anathea raised her eyes.
“Why bother holding onto a jerk like that? What’s he good for?” Aspen didn’t mince words.
Anathea was caught off guard. By then, Aspen had already turned away and entered the elevator. The doors closed steadily behind her.
Evangeline didn’t in
immediately understand Aspen’s comment. But after piecing it together with what Aspen had said in the private room, the realization hit her.
She was aware that Anathea was Aspen’s only protégé. So, had the story Aspen told earlier in the private room been about Anathea all along?
Evangeline abruptly recalled the scene where Aspen had openly questioned Gregory, and she clapped a hand over her mouth in shock
“Nat,” she blurted, pointing at Anathea. “Y–You and Mr. Sinclair. are you…‘
60, Anathea’s husband was Gregory, the CEO of Sinclair Group? And she’d mentioned she was getting a divorce from him?
To make it worse, everyone in that room had acted as if Gregory and Natalie were together, when in reality, Anathea was his wife, and Natalie was the mistress!
“Holy crap.”
Evangeline’s brain practically fried itself in those few seconds, and she looked at Anathea with a mix of disbelief and pity.
How on earth did Anathea manage such poise while her husband paraded around with another woman right before her? There was no way that kind of strength came without some serious heartbreak.
Evangeline’s expression softened instantly.
She reached for Anathea’s hand, her voice thick with sympathy. “Nat.”
She had no idea how Anathea had made it through. She searched for something comforting to say.
But Anathea just smiled dismissively. “Don’t worry about it. It’s over now.”
After enduring so many wounds, the pain had long since turned to scars. So, when she saw Gregory and Natalie together, she suddenly realized she wasn’t all that upset, let alone heartbroken. All she felt was an inexplicable calm.
Fiona’s surgery
ery was set for the day after tomorrow, which meant was time for her to pack up and leave.
“Let’s go back in,” Anathe a suggested.

The mummut of conversation in the private room faded as they entered. Anathea acknowledged the group with a polite nod and was just moving toward her seat when Natalie’s voice cut through the silence.
“Ms. Jacobson, Ms. Holstrom, you’re just in time. We’ve been talking about how the upcoming exhibition should cater to a more sophisticated crowd, so we’ll have to refine our selection of design accordingly.”
A chill of dread colled in Anathea’s stomach as her hands tightened slowly at her sides.
As expected, Natalie gave a mildly apologetic sinile. “Which mean, Ms. Jacobson, we’ll have to remove your designs from the exhibition.”
