Since Thomas put it that way, Anathea didn’t want to turn him down. “Alright. What do you feel like eating?”
“Hmm…” Then, his gaze landed on a sleek silver–and–black Maybach ahead of them. “How about Frevancian? Is that okay with you?”
“Frevancian?”
“Yeah, you’re not going to say it’s too pricey, are you?” Thomas chuckled. “If it is, we can choose somewhere else.”
“No, Frevancian is fine.”
Anathea never liked owing people favors, anyway, so footing the bill for something nice actually made her feel less burdened. nd following that Maybach straight to one of the
While driving, Thomas glanced at her and smiled before stepping on the gas most well–known Frevancian restaurants in Castenea.
As soon as they walked in, Thomas pulled out a chair for Anathea and poured her a glass of water. “Thanks to you, I get to enjoy a fancy dinner tonight.”
“I should be the one thanking you.” If it weren’t for him, Anathea would probably still be stuck in the hospital parking lot. Handing Thomas the menu, she said, “Order whatever you want.”
“I’m going all in, then.” Thomas beamed.
He didn’t order any wine since he was driving. He chose Hachis Parmentier for the starter and beef bourguignon and cassoulet for the mains. For cheese, he went with carmelair.
Then, he asked, “Do you eat fish soup?”
Anathea remembered how just smelling fish used to make her gag. She shook her head.
“Okay, then let’s go with lobster bisque instead.”
Finally, for dessert, he ordered brystel, a buttery ring of pastry filled with smooth almond cream.
That was when Anathea realized that everything Thomas had ordered suited her taste. He even took the time to tell the server about her dietary restrictions and preferences.
She blinked, a little surprised.
“When I worked at Sinclair Villa, I got used to your tastes,” Thomas uttered casually.
Anathea smiled. Honestly, she thought seeing him again after what happened last time would be awkward. But he never brought any of that up. He even steered the conversation toward lighter topics, and before long, Anathea found herself relaxing. Thomas even made her laugh a few times.
Not far behind her, a pair of cold, sharp eyes was locked onto her.
“Greg, what’s wrong?” Natalie, who was sitting with her back to Anathea, hadn’t noticed the latter. She looked ove
confused.
regory,
“Nothing.” Gregory finally pulled his gaze away and went back to his meal as if nothing happened. However, he was cutting his steak with noticeably more force now.
Natalie blinked in confusion, reaching out to pour him some wine.
But his knife slid across the rim of the glass to stop her. “I’m driving.”
She almost suggested they could just get a driver so he could ride with her in the back. But seeing his cold expression, she silently put the wine down.

“Oh, right. I heard you went to Xander’s parent–teacher meeting day,” she uttered, trying to lighten the mood
“Yeah.” Gregory kept cutting his steak. But his eyes were locked on Anathea, who was laughing and chatting with Thomas. His fingers slowly curled tighter around his fork.
“Why didn’t you ask me to come with you?” Natalie tilted her head brushing her hair off her shoulder to show off her collarbone. “I heard Xander wanted me to be there.”
Gregory didn’t answer.
Natalie studied his expression, eyes flicking slightly before she asked, “Why didn’t Ms. Jacobson go? She’s Xander’s mom. She must be pretty busy if she can’t even make time for him.”
“She is busy,” Gregory replied coldly.
She was busy having dinner with someone else. And not just anyone–she was with that man, the same chef Gregory had once caught getting way too close to her.
Did Anathea seriously not have any regard for Gregory at all?
