Jenny was confused when she saw Anathea leaving—and she ever had a suitcase with her. “Mrs. Sindair, it’s late. Where are you going?”
“My mom’s having surgery tomorrow. I’m going early to be with her,” Anathea said gently
“Oh, I see. Well, I hope she gets better soon.” Jenny nodded with a smile.
“Thank you, Jenny. Thanks for taking care of me all these years.” Mathea smiled at her sincerely.
Jenny looked a bit flustered, unsure why Anathea was suddenly saying that. “That’s really just part of my job. There’s no need to be so formal, Mrs. Sinclair.”
“Goodbye,” Anathea uttered. Without looking back, she wheeled her suitcase out the door.
Goodbye to this place that had held her captive for five long years
Full of determination, Anathea walked into the night.
Jenny stood at the doorway and watched her go, blinking a few times. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Anathea’s goodbye had sounded very final.
She shook the thought away quickly. Anathea had a husband and a son she loved deeply–there was no way she would leave.
Meanwhile, in the backseat of a cab, Anathea stared out the window. Sinclair Villa grew smaller and smaller in the rearview mirror until it finally vanished into the darkness.
She didn’t feel a thing–no sadness and no regret. Only relief.
Then suddenly, a sharp pain stabbed through her lower abdomen. Anathea clutched her stomach, her face instantly turning pale.
The pain was intense. What was going on?
She pressed her forehead against the back of the passenger seat, cold sweat breaking out across her skins She nearly passed out.
“Miss, are you okay?” The driver had been startled by her sudden, pained cry and quickly slowed down, concerned.
Anathea gritted her teeth, waiting for the pain to pass. After a moment, it finally eased, and she nodded. “I’m okay.”
She’d been feeling a little under the weather for a while now. After Fiona’s surgery, she really needed to get a full checkup. Hopefully, it wasn’t anything serious.
Once the driver saw she was truly okay, he picked up speed again.
On the other side of Castenea, Gregory was tearing down a wide–open highway in his Bugatti Veyron
A Koenigsegg was racing alongside him. Theo’s voice came through the Bluetooth headset. “Didn’t expect you to be in the mood to race tonight. What’s the occasion?”
Gregory didn’t answer. He just slammed the gas and took off. Theo wasn’t one to back down either–he kept right behind Gregory, even gaining on the straightaways.
“You’ve been off the track too long, Gregory. No use having a fancy car if you’re out of practice,” Theo teased as he overtook Gregory on a curve.
But the next second, Gregory’s Bugatti roared up right beside him, tire–to–tire.
“Oh, you’re getting serious now?” Theo chuckled. “Alright, let me show you what I can do at the corners
Before he could finish, Gregory suddenly swerved in hard, almost sideswiping the Koenigsegg.

Startled, Theo hit the brakes just in time to avoid a collision. “Gregory, are you insane?”

Gregory didn’t say a word. After forcing Theo to slow down, he floored it and flew out of the turn, gunning it down the final
stretch.
The roar of the engine in the dead of night was like a beast breaking free, unleashing all the rage it had kept bottled up.
When Gregory passed the finishing point, he slammed the brakes and spun the car in a sharp U–turn, kicking up a massive cloud of dust.
Theo caught up and pulled the same move. After he parked his car, he immediately jumped out of it and stormed over to Gregory.
“What the hell was that?” Theo demanded.
That was like a murder attempt! Theo had no idea what he’d done to piss Gregory off.
Gregory looked at Theo, his eyes cold and unreadable. But beneath it all, there was something darker, something chilling
“Who did you give that bag to?”
