At once, the noisy crowd fell silent. They could all feel the overwheuing pressure in the air, which made it hard to breathe.
And it wasn’t just from one source.
Dominic stood next to Gregory. He gave a cold glance at those who were trying to lay a hand on Hannah and raised a finger.
The next second, several bodyguards in sharp suits surrounded them, forming an intimidating wall that forced the crowd back.
“Who said they wanted to kick my woman out?” Dominic’s voice wasn’t as cold as Gregory’s, but it had a power that made the crowd swallow nervously.
They looked at each other in silence. When they saw the towering bodyguards, their legs began to shake uncontrollably.
“Get lost!” Dominic’s voice rang out. Like a herd of scared animals the onlookers scattered in all directions.
Hannah, watching Dominic step in for her, was momentarily surprised. But she didn’t look at him for long. She quickly shifted her focus to Anathea. “Thea, are you okay?”
Anathea took a step forward, fully distancing herself from Gregory’s hand. She had no desire to be near him. “I’m fine. Don’t
worry.”
“I’m not fine!” Xander cried. He turned to Gregory and complained, “Dad! That lady hit me! You have to stand up for me!”
But Gregory merely looked at him with a displeased frown. “Who told you to come here?”
Xander, intimidated by Gregory’s dark expression, pouted and teared up.
“Xander was worried about me. I accidentally mentioned it, and he came to visit me.” Natalie quickly intervened to defend
‘Xander. “Greg, Xander is your son. Don’t be so harsh with him.”
“Exactly!” Xander, hiding in Natalie’s arms, puffed out his chest. “I’m just worried about Ms. Whitman! She got hurt because of that evil woman! Shouldn’t I avenge her?”
As Anathea listened to him call her an “evil woman” over and over, she felt a tightness in her chest. Her emotions surged like icy waves, crashing relentlessly against her. She felt cold to the bone as disappointment filled her.
She sighed deeply, trying to push her emotions back. Her voice was quiet as she said, “Xander, if you want to have someone else as your mother, I have no objection. From now on, you can choose who you want to recognize as your mother.”
Xander froze for a moment, clearly surprised that Anathea had actually agreed.
Natalie’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction. She pulled Xander closer and looked at Anathea as though saying, “See? Your son is ‘mine now!”
Meanwhile, Anathea’s eyes were calm, like a pool of still water.
Gregory looked at Anathea with an unreadable expression. He hadn’t spoken right away because he’d thought Anathea was just upset and speaking out of frustration.
After all, she loved Xander deeply. How could she really let him recognize someone else as his mother?
Just like when it came to the resistance and distance she’d shown him recently, he believed it was nothing more than a way to protest against his neglect and get his attention so she could secure the status and treatment she deserved as his wife..
He’d always known what she wanted, but he just didn’t want to fulfill her wishes.
He believed Anathea had schemed against him. After all, once she’d married him, the Jacobson family had successfully attached themselves to the Sinclair family.
During that time, the Jacobsons had gained resources that other companies could only dream of. Even though they’d fallen from grace, they still held a certain influence.

Moreover, Anathea had begged Gregory to spare Adam. He believe she’d received what she wanted, so she shouldn’t ask for
more.
But he had to admit that there was a moment when he’d relented, or he wouldn’t have told the two police officers that she was
his wife.
