But that was all.

Atter Anathea said her plece, she didn’t spare them another glance With weary steps, she turned and walked away,
“Thea.” Hannah quickly chased after her. Dominic gave Gregory a polite nod and followed as well.
The whole mess came to an end with Anathea’s quiet exit.
Natalie, on the other hand, was practically glowing with satisfaction because, in her mind, she’d won. She rested her hand gently on Xander’s shoulder and sald sweetly, “Xander, thank you for caring about the so much. You really are such a good boy.”
But this time, Xander didn’t respond. He just stood there, staring a Anathea’s fading figure. It was like something had slipped through his fingers. No matter how hard he tried to hold on, it was already gone.
“Xander?” Natalie called again when he didn’t answer.
Only then did Xander snap out of it. He turned to her and asked with concern, “Does your face still hurt, Ms. Whitman? I can blow on it for you if it does.”
“I’m okay. I feel much better now,” Natalie replied with a smile. “The doctor said I’ll be discharged tomorrow.”
“Then let me stay with you tonight,” Xander offered.
“You have school tomorrow, Xander,” Gregory said in a cold, flat voice, which made Xander instinctively shrink back.
He knew that tone. Gregory was mad.
Natalie opened her mouth to defend Xander, but Gregory didn’t give her the chance. He looked straight at Xander and said sharply, “Go home. Now.”
“Okay.” Xander lowered his head and walked behind his driver. Just like that, he headed back to the Sinclair residence.
With Xander gone, Natalie felt a flutter of excitement. Finally, she was alone with Gregory. She’d long dreamed of this moment.
Her eyes softened as she gazed at him. “Greg…”
But before she could say anything else, Gregory’s phone buzzed with a new message. He didn’t even glance at her. Without a word, he turned and walked off.
Natalie froze, and the spark in her eyes snuffed out instantly. She clenched the arms of her wheelchair.
As soon as Gregory stepped out of the hospital, he saw the Rolls–Royce still parked by the roadside. Martin was standing in front of it, looking troubled.
“Mr. Sinclair, Mrs. Sinclair refuses to leave, no matter what. We didn’t dare force her.”
After all, Eleanor had threatened to tell Holden that they were mistreating her if they dared to drive. And knowing how ridiculously devoted Holden was to Eleanor, Martin had known he would make them pay even if it wasn’t true.
“I’ll handle it,” Gregory said calmly. He walked around to the backseat and opened the door.
Eleanor was sitting stiffly inside, arms crossed over her chest with an unpleasant look on her face.
“Took you long enough.” She cast him a sideways glare before demanding, “Why did you help her?”
Eleanor had people inside Castanea’s courthouse. If she really took the case to court, Anathea wouldn’t have stood a chance
Honestly, the moment Anathea had talked back to her, Eleanor had already made up her mind to crush her. She’d been waiting for Anathea to step out of line.

But Gregory had stopped her.
Eleanor couldn’t understand why. She needed to hear it from him
Gregory didn’t rush to answer. He slid into the seat beside her, keeping some distance between them. It was as if there had always been an invisible wall between them.
They might have looked like a loving mother and son in public, but when they were alone, there was only cold silence and detachment.
Just as Eleanor thought Gregory had no intention of answering and was about to press hirm, he said, “Anathea is mine. I know how to handle her.”
He looked straight at her. His tone carried a subtle warning as he continued, “I’d appreciate it if you didn’t interfere, Mom.”
