Chapter 147
Hannah knew she was asking for a lot, but she just wanted to ensure Anathea had a place to stay in Syntherra.
In fact, with her current salary, she could already afford a nice house in the suburbs of Syntherra, but what she really wanted was a property downtown. It was a prime area with top–tier security and environment.
More importantly, she wanted Dominic to provide it. She was looking to use his influence to protect Anathea and Fiona. That was her main goal.
Dominic was the only person she knew who could stand toe–to–to with Gregory in terms of power and influence.
So, she softened her tone and rested her slender fingers on his chest. Her voice was soft, like a spring breeze, laced with an alluring charm. “100 million dollars may seem like a lot to most people, but to you, it’s just pocket change. Surely, you wouldn’t be so stingy, would you, Mr. Lancaster?”
Dominic’s eyes darkened as he stared at her.
Seeing an opening, Hannah leaned in to kiss him.
But Dominic quickly held her chin, stopping her from moving any further. His deep eyes had seen right through her. “Hannah, don’t think I don’t know what you’re really after. You want to use my influence to help your friend.“.
The romantic tension in the air shattered with his words.
“Yes, that’s exactly what I want.” Since Dominic had already figured it out, Hannah didn’t bother pretending anymore. She took his hand. “Please help me, Dominic. Please.“.
Her pleading was sincere, but Dominic remained indifferent. “Do you know I’m planning to work with Gregory on my next project?”
Since he was going to work with Gregory, there was no reason to upset him.
“I know,” Hannah replied seriously, “I’m just asking you to help Thea and Mrs. Jacobson settle down. I’m not asking you to go head–to–head against Gregory. It won’t upset him.
“Besides, Thea and Gregory have already signed the divorce papers and gone through the cooling–off period. They aren’t married anymore, so where Thea goes is none of his business!”
“They were married?” Dominic’s eyes widened in surprise. He hadn’t expected Gregory to be married–and divorced.
But he’d seen the way Gregory looked at Anathea. Given the possessiveness in his eyes, he didn’t seem like someone who’d fallen out of love.
“Are you sure they’re divorced?”
“Of course. Thea told me herself. Why would I lie to you?” Hannah looked at him. “Dominic, please help me. I can give you anything you want from me.”
As Dominic studied her, he smirked. “Really? Anything?”
“Anything,” Hannah said seriously.
Anathea had been a friend to her when no one else was and even saved her life. Their meeting felt like a destined encounter.
Back then, Anathea had been visiting a poor community with Adam. She’d met Hannah, who was returning from buying medicine for her grandparents.
Hannah had been knocked down by someone’s bike, and her bag of medicine had spilled everywhere. People had avoided her, afraid of catching the bad luck that came from her family’s poverty
Anathea, dressed in a clean little dress, had looked like a delicate princess at that time. Yet, she’d crouched down on the filthy ground and helped pick up the scattered medicine packets one by one.

The pink hem of Anathea’s dress had gotten stained with mud, but the warin and sincere smile she’d given her was something Hannah would never forget.
From that day on, whenever Adam came to visit, Anathea would always come with him. She would meet up with Hannah to share stories.
It was the first real friendship Hannah had ever had.
When her grandparents fell ill and their savings ran dry, Hannah had nearly lost her chance to continue studying. It was Anathea who’d convinced Adam to sponsor her education and helped secure the highest subsidies for her grandparents.
