Gregory liked resilient and tough women, didn’t he?
As she talked, Natalie casually brought up the “Modern Tranquility exhibition “With Ms. Langley’s piece anchoring the show, it was a huge success. Looks like it didn’t make a difference whether Ms. Jacobson’s work was there or not.”
She said it lightly, but her words were deliberate. The implication was clear–Anathea was replaceable.
In reality, once Anathea’s work had been taken out, attendance for the exhibition had dropped by nearly half. But Natalie only paid attention to the high–profile guests. Ordinary people didn’t count in her eyes.
Gregory didn’t respond. He remembered agreeing to remove Anathea’s piece. He could still recall the look in her eyes back then -stubborn, but faintly pleading. And he’d ignored it.
He pressed his lips into a firm line.
Natalie tried to continue the conversation, but Gregory leaned back in his seat with his eyes closed. He was clearly no longer interested in talking.
Seeing this, Natalie fell silent.
Still, the fact that Gregory had taken time out of his day to come with her for the follow–up made her incredibly happy. A few quiet moments were nothing compared to that.
Inside the consultation room, Natalie spoke with the doctor about her recovery. Meanwhile, Gregory stood in the hallway, glancing subtly toward the department across the corridor.
Fiona had finished her surgery, and Anathea was probably with her now.
For some reason, as he looked over there, a thought suddenly crossed his mind—he wanted to see Anathea.
It had been nearly a week since they last saw each other. How was she? Was her hand better?
Almost without realizing it, Gregory began walking toward Fiona’s ward.
“Greg!” Natalie called out.
Only then did he pause in his steps.
“Where are you going?” she asked, stepping up beside him.
Gregory didn’t answer.
But Natalie had seen where he’d been headed and knew he was going to see Anathea.
So, she said magnanimously, “My last encounter with Ms. Jacobson didn’t end well. She hurt my face and had a fallout with Eleanor. But I don’t want to hold onto that forever. How about we go see her together?”
“No need,” Gregory replied flatly. He turned away, deciding not to head to Fiona’s ward.
Seeing that, Natalie smiled faintly. “Then I’ll go for my full checkup.”
“Okay.”
Even after she walked off, Gregory didn’t go to Fiona’s ward.
Maybe Fiona didn’t want to see him either. He had no reason to disturb a patient. Instead, he messaged Martin, asking him to buy a few gifts and visit Fiona on his behalf.
“Understood, Mr. Sinclair,” Martin replied dutifully. “Is there anything else you’d like me to do?”
“While you’re there, check on Anathea too. Ask her when she’s…”

Before the words “coming back” left his lips, Gregory stopped. Did he actually want to ask when Anathea was coming back? ‘Mr. Sinclair?” Martin prompted.
“That’s all.” Gregory ended the call.
Was he missing Anathea?
Frowning, he chalked it all up to the awful white wine mussels he had earlier. He was just craving Anathea’s cooking. That was all.
Still, the sudden surge of emotion unsettled him. He rubbed his brew and forced the feeling down..
After all, Anathea had gotten close to another man behind his back He wasn’t about to let that slide so easily.
Right then, his phone rang. It was Adrian.
“Your car’s all fixed. Also, I pulled the dashcam footage from the Cayenne you hit. Turns out it recorded what was happening inside the car too. Do you want to take a look?”
