Hannah was furious. They’d clearly had an agreement, yet Domine had still gone ahead and told Gregory where Fiona was hospitalized.
He was such a hypocrite!
She was cursing him in her head and said it aloud, “You’re such a liar!”
“A liar?” Dominic chuckled, switching the phone to his left hand while steering with his right. “That’s pretty rich coming from you, don’t you think?”
Hannah frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Why didn’t you take the pills I gave you?” Dominic’s voice turned cold.
Hannah froze for a second, her eyes flickering.
It was true. She hadn’t taken the pills Dominic had given her.
Even though she knew it was already difficult for her to get pregnant, she was still scared something might go wrong if medication was involved. She didn’t want to take the risk.
“What is it, Hannah? You never really intended to have a child with me, did you?” Dominic asked sharply.
Hannah hadn’t expected him to call her out so directly. And he hadn’t stopped there—he’d made sure she felt the consequences of breaking their agreement firsthand.
Hannah pressed her lips together, unsure how to respond.
But Dominic didn’t give her a chance anyway.
“Since you were the one who broke the deal first, don’t blame me for being ruthless. I can take back the apartment I gave you. And I can hand over your friend, whom I’ve been protecting, to Gregory.”
“I forgot!” Hannah uttered in panic. “I just forgot to take it! I didn’t mean to!”
“Forgot?” Dominic scoffed lightly.
Someone like Hannah, who could memorize her lines in one go, would forget something this important?
Yeah, right.
“Yes, I really forgot.” Hannah exhaled, giving in a little. “I’ll make sure to take it next time.”
Dominic paused.
Not hearing any response from him, Hannah felt uneasy. She lowered her voice and probed carefully, “Dominic?”
“Make it up to me next time,” Dominic finally said, his expression unreadable.
No matter how flimsy her excuse was, he didn’t push any further because all he cared about was her attitude. As long as she wasn’t openly backing out, he didn’t mind keeping this arrangement going.
“I’ll pick the time and place next time,” he added.
“Okay.” Hannah lowered her gaze.
“Mommy, who are you talking to?” Chloe’s voice suddenly rang out.
Hannah froze as she glanced at the call that was still connected, her heart lurching.
Before Chloe could say anything else, she scrambled to hang up.

“Mommy?” Chloe blinked up at her, confused.
“No one, just a colleague,” Hannah answered casually, ruffling Chibe’s hair with a smile. “Chloe, next time when I’m on the phone, try not to interrupt, okay?”
Chloe thought she’d disturbed Hannah during work and quickly neded. Then, she grabbed Hannah’s hand excitedly. “Mommy, Thea told me to call you for dinner! We’re having your favorite roasted chicken wings today! I made them myself!”
“You did?” Hannah’s eyes lit up. She scooped Chloe into a hug and kissed her cheek.
“I’m so proud of you, my little superstar!”
Chloe beamed, her face glowing.
Watching them from the dining table, where she was setting out the plates, Anathea couldn’t help but feel slightly envious.
Even though Hannah was so busy that she barely had time to spend with Chloe, their bond was so strong and natural. It was something anyone would admire.
