The reporters immediately swanned around, all staring at Gregoryruriously.
“This is just a floristry competition. Why is Mr. Sinclair here?”
“That kid is a Sinclair, too. Could he be Mr. Sinclair’s son?”
“And Mr. Sinclair’s son just called called Ms. Jacobson ‘Mom‘ Don’t that mean Mrs. Sinclair is..”
Under all the guessing and side–eyeing, Gregory looked straight at Anathea. “Long time no see, Mrs. Sinclair.”
His deep, magnetic voice sounded almost polite. But he was staring at Anathea as if he was about to tear her apart any second. The atmosphere turned heavy. Even the whispering around them died down as everyone anxiously watched him.
Anathea’s heart skipped a beat.
Honestly, she’d mentally prepared for something like this.
She knew that if she wanted to compete internationally, there was no way she could hide forever. She’d even bought a plane ticket in advance. The plan was to leave right after the awards ceremony to avoid any drama.
But she hadn’t expected Gregory to show up so fast and ruin all her plans.
The pressure he exuded was so overwhelming her legs felt like jelly, but she quickly forced herself to stay calm.
Then, she put on a polite yet distant smile. “Kids might mix people up sometimes, but it’s another issue for you to mistake someone else for your wife, Mr. Sinclair.”
She held her breath and met his stare head–on, saying each word clearly and firmly, “I’m not your wife.”
She’d already made up her mind to cut ties with him, so she couldn’t show even a crack of weakness.
“My wife’s name is Anathea. Are you sure you’re not her?” Gregory’s sharp gaze swept over her.
“There are plenty of people with the same name,” Anathea replied calmly. She was pretty confident about the heavy makeup she was wearing today.
Besides, Gregory had always despised her. She was sure he didn’t have many pictures of her.
She could count on one hand the number of times he’d even seen her in full makeup. He’d always treated her coldly and barely even looked at her, let alone taken photos.
That thought gave her a bit more confidence.
“If you can’t tell people apart, maybe you should get your eyes checked.”
“Oh, is that so?”
Gregory’s next words wiped the smile right off her face. “I bet you didn’t expect this, but I still have photos of you in full makeup and in my bed, begging for it.”
Anathea froze as she clenched her hands.
Gregory seemed pleased with her reaction. His lips curled into a small, wicked smile.
“What’s wrong, Mrs. Sinclair? Do you not believe me? Want me to pull them up so you can confirm? Or…”
He leaned in a little, smirking. “Maybe you want me to remind you exactly what your face looked like, what you sounded like, and what you did—”
“Gregory!” Anathea snapped, her cheeks burning hot.
