That sentence was all it took to pull Gregory back to reality, snapping him out of the haze of anger and desire.
Everything stopped in an instant.
In his rage just now, he’d almost forgotten that Anathea was pregnant.
Seeing how pale she was, he frowned and pulled back.
“Where does it hurt?” he asked, his voice tight with worry, though he didn’t seem to realize it himself.
Anathea bit her lip, pressing a hand to her stomach.
“My stomach… It hurts…”
Maybe it was just in her head, but suddenly she had a really bad feeling. Was something wrong with the baby?
Gregory’s face darkened. Helping her lie flat, he told her not to move and rushed her to the hospital.
The second they pulled up, a group of doctors and nurses was already there waiting. They hurried over with a stretcher and took Anathea inside.
She clutched her stomach, her pale face completely blank. She glanced over at Gregory, who stayed right by her side. He wasn’t even a step behind.
When she was pregnant with Xander, she’d also had moments when her stomach hurt.
Back then, she went to the hospital alone. Gregory hadn’t even shown up once. It was as though he’d just thrown her into some forgotten corner and left her there.
But now, from the moment they arrived at the hospital and went through every single checkup, he’d never left her side.
Even the doctor said, “Mr. Sinclair seems to really care about you, Mrs. Sinclair. You two must have a great relationship.”
A great relationship?
Honestly, that had to be the most ironic thing she’d ever heard. Anathea turned her face away, not wanting to look at Gregory at all.
Gregory pressed his lips into a tight line and asked, “How is she?”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Sinclair. She just got a little too worked up. The baby’s fine,” the doctor replied.
But that wasn’t what Gregory was asking. “What about her? Is she okay?”
“Mrs. Sinclair’s physical condition is still pretty good. She’s within normal health standards. But she needs to take it easy. She should avoid overworking and getting stressed. If possible, refrain from sex, especially in the first three months.”
Anathea shut her eyes tightly, feeling her face heat up.
Gregory paused for a second before saying, “Alright.”
The doctor told them a few more things. Gregory actually pulled out his phone and took notes, looking serious and focused.
Anathea opened her eyes and stared at him, frowning slightly.
All of it felt so fake.
After the doctor left, Anathea leaned back against the hospital bed to rest. Under the blanket, her hand slowly moved to i stomach. The baby was still there, healthy and safe.
She should’ve been happy. But somehow, she just couldn’t feel it because Gregory had found her, and they were still married, which meant this baby might end up like Xander and get taken away from her by the Sinclair family.

Anathea curled her fingers tightly, her eyes burning.

So, when Gregory finished talking with the doctor and opened the door to walk into the room, she said straight out, “Gregory, let’s get a divorce.”
The words hung in the air, and the room fell into a dead, heavy silence.
Sunlight streamed through the thin curtains, glaring and harsh.
Gregory said nothing. He just strode over, his tall figure casting a shadow that swallowed her whole. His eyes were fixed on her.
It had only been a little over a month since he last saw her, but she looked different. She wasn’t as thin and frail as before. Her face–once so gaunt it was almost unrecognizable–had finally filled out a little.
Even though she was still pale from everything that had just happened, she still looked better than when they’d been in Castanea.
Gregory frowned slightly.

Anathea felt a chill run down her spine under his stare.
After a long moment, she finally looked up at him. Her teary eyes were rimmed red, and there were still traces of blood on her lips.
