As Anathea faced Gregory, who looked as if he could tear her apart, her voice trembled slightly. But she still forced herself to say, “I won’t regret it.”
She’d long since given up on him, exhausted from this marriage in every possible way. What could she possibly have to regret?
Gregory let out a cold laugh as he released her, giving her a sharp look. “Let’s see if you still feel the same later.”
Anathea didn’t really catch what he meant at first, but in the next second, Gregory pulled out his phone and tossed it in front of her.
“Take a look yourself.”
Anathea froze.
Her fingers clenched instinctively when she saw what was on the screen–Adam.
The once–proud, well–mannered father she’d grown up idolizing was now lying in a hospital bed, barely hanging on.
What the hell had happened?
Anathea grabbed the phone, frantically flipping through the medical records.
The more she read, the paler she became, and the more her eyes dimmed.
“Adam’s illness flared up in prison,” Gregory said casually, as though he were just talking about the weather. “If he doesn’t get proper treatment soon, he won’t have long.”
To Gregory, Adam wasn’t someone worth saving. Adam was an enemy he wished he could destroy piece by piece.
In fact, even telling Anathea about it now was already more mercy than he thought Adam deserved.
But for Anathea, it was completely different. Adam was her father, the man who’d loved her, guided her, and been her hero since she was a little girl.
There was no way she could just stand by and do nothing.
But the prison’s medical resources weren’t enough to save him. With Gregory using his influence to stop her, it would be too late by the time she fought her way through all the bureaucracy.
Anathea bit her lip hard, her whole body trembling. She looked at Adam’s pale, pain–ravaged face, and her tears started falling uncontrollably.
Anathea had always believed he wasn’t the monster others made him out to be. She’d always dreamed of clearing his name.
But now, she couldn’t even save his life. She felt completely useless.
Covering her face, she sobbed quietly.
Gregory stood there, staring at her tear–streaked face, completely unmoved.
He was waiting for her to realize that without him, she was powerless. He wanted to feel regret so deep it would break her.
Then, they could move on to the next part of this conversation. He knew this method was cruel, maybe even despicable, but to him, all that mattered was winning.
Victory at any cost–that was what he lived by in business, and now he was applying the same rules to his marriage.
He had no shame about it.
Gregory just wanted Anathea back, locked up by his side, no matter what it took.
He watched her tears slowly dry up and the fight drain from her expression.

And strangely, the pressure and darkness that had been choking him these past days finally loosened a little.
The ward grew quiet again.
Anathea stopped crying. She knew better than to waste tears in front of a man like Gregory. He had no heart to be moved.
Wiping her face roughly, she asked, “Gregory, what do you actually want from me?”
Gregory slowly sat down beside her, no longer towering over her but at eye level with her.
But his tone was still cold and detached, as if he were discussing a business deal. “Anathea, I want you to come back and be my wife again.”
Anathea looked at him, pale and confused. She didn’t understand why he was clinging to this so hard.
Gregory didn’t leave her wondering for long.
“Sinclair Group is launching a new project. We’re moving into the overseas luxury market. Our main target, Mr. Wesley Price, is notoriously hard to crack. Even when we offered him the highest profits, he didn’t budge. But we finally found a way in.”
