Life really had a messed–up sense of humor. Anathea let out a small, bitter laugh. She curled up, resting her hands over her belly. Right now, this baby was the only thing keeping her together.
Not long after, the door to the ward opened again. Gregory came back in, carrying a thermal lunch box.
“If you’re not going to sleep, get up and eat something,” he said casually.
Anathea didn’t want to listen to him, but she was honestly starving She struggled to sit
- up.
Meanwhile, Gregory opened the lunch box and started taking out dish after dish–all delicate, nutritious meals.
Anathea stared for a second, a little dazed.
As far as she could remember, Gregory had never brought her food before. This weird change in him made her uncomfortable. Picking a bowl, she grabbed some food and slowly started eating, sheaking glances at him from time to time.
Without looking up, Gregory said, “What? Do you have to sneak glances at your own husband because you’re scared of directly checking him out?”
Anathea was caught off guard by his shameless comment and started coughing.
“Seriously, Anathea? You can’t even eat without choking?” He sounded annoyed. Still, he stood up and started patting her back to help her breathe.
But the second his hand touched her, Anathea instinctively pulled away.
Gregory’s hand froze midair for a second, his fingers clenching slightly. Was she really that disgusted by him?
His expression darkened.
When she finally caught her breath, he grabbed her by the shoulders and turned her to face him.
“You’re coming back to Castenea with me tomorrow,” he stated firmly, leaving no room for argument.
Since she clearly didn’t want anything to do with him, fine. He wasn’t about to let her do what she wanted either.
Anathea hesitated. “But…”
It was too sudden. She hadn’t gotten anything ready yet.
“If you think Adam can afford to wait, that’s your call,” Gregory said coldly.
“Fine,” Anathea said quietly, giving in.
Gregory looked pleased seeing her finally behave again. Noticing a small piece of food stuck to the corner of her mouth, he reached out to brush it away.
However, instead of pulling back, his fingertips stayed pressed against her lips.
She wasn’t wearing that bold red lipstick anymore.
Instead, her natural lip color showed through–soft and pink, like a strawberry jelly.
Her lips had always been beautiful. He knew that. And the taste… was addictive. It was never enough for him.
Gregory locked eyes with her, his voice dropping low and rough. “Anathea, it’s been a month. I kind of missed you.”
Anathea froze, wondering if she’d heard wrong. It was impossible for such words to come out of Gregory’s mouth.

But when she caught the look in his eyes–dark and suggestivese realized exactly what he meant.
He didn’t miss her; he missed her body. It was so typical of men!
Anathea laughed coldly in her heart, her face showing nothing but difference.
“The doctor said no sex for the first three months,” she said, her voice calm and distant.
Gregory gave a short, mocking laugh. “Relax. I’m not that desperate.”
Anathea finally let out a tiny breath of relief.
Gregory’s fingers pinched her bottom lip, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly as he swallowed.
Brushing his lips with his thumb, he murmured, “The doctor did say no sex, but he didn’t say anything about other things, did he?”
His lips curled into a slow, meaningful smile as he rubbed her lips lightly. “If we can’t do it the usual way, we’ll just have to get a little creative.”
Anathea’s lips trembled. She wasn’t naive. She’d been married to Gregory for six years; she knew exactly what he was asking for.
He wanted her to do that.
