Chapter 197
In the six years they’d been married, even though Anathea and Gregory had a regular sex life, they’d never actually done that.
It was partly because of how she’d been raised–she was still pretty shy about that stuff. Moreover, Gregory was never very patient with her.
Whenever they were together, he always got straight to the point. There was barely any foreplay. He was more interested in seeing her hurt than anything else.
Only once in a while, when he’d landed some big deal at work and was in a good mood, would he actually slow down and treat her better.
He’d asked her to help him out during her period before, but she didn’t know how, and Gregory didn’t have the patience to teach her. Eventually, it just got dropped and forgotten.
She never thought he’d bring it up again now.
Anathea frowned at him. One second he said he wasn’t that much of a beast, and the next he was acting worse than an animal.
“What? Don’t you want to?” Gregory raised an eyebrow, pinching her chin.
Anathea bit her lip, her whole body tense. She didn’t know if refusing him now would make him flip and take back his word to help Adam. The thought tore her up inside. Her eyes started to turn red, full of humiliation and helplessness.
Just as her tears were about to fall, Gregory let go of her, smiling mockingly.
“Relax, I was just messing with you.”
Anathea blinked, caught off guard.
“I’ll have Martin pick you up in the afternoon tomorrow. Don’t even think about pulling anything, Mrs. Sinclair,” Gregory said, grabbing his jacket and getting ready to leave.
When he caught sight of her wearing just a thin hospital gown, he paused.
Without a word, he tossed his jacket over her shoulders.
His familiar scent wrapped around her immediately. For a moment, Anathea’s eyes flickered with emotion, but Gregory had already turned and walked away.
He strode out of the hospital’s main entrance, where Martin was already waiting. The silver–black Maybach sat there, looking graceful and intimidating.
“Mr. Sinclair,” Martin greeted, opening the door for him.
Noticing that Gregory’s expression looked a lot calmer than earlier, Martin asked curiously, “Is Mrs. Sinclair coming back?”
Gregory didn’t answer.
He just looked back toward Anathea’s ward, where a light was on.
Through the window, Anathea stood by the glass, wrapped in just that thin gown. The setting sun made her look distant.
The jacket he’d given her was on the floor. She couldn’t even bother to pretend to care.
Gregory’s eyes narrowed slightly.
At that moment, he finally realized it. The Anathea who used to cling to him when she was upset, biting him while she cried and poured out all her hurt, the Anathea who loved him—was gone.
The woman who’d agreed to go back with him now wasn’t the same.

She was his business partner, the future head of the Sinclair family and his legal wife. But she wasn’t his Anathea anymore. He didn’t know why, but even though he’d technically gotten what he wanted and managed to force her back to his side, he felt as though he’d lost her completely.
He didn’t love Anathea.
And now Anathea would never love him again.
A sudden wave of frustration hit him hard. He tugged at his tie, trying to shake it off.
Gregory stood there, staring up at her for a long, long time before finally pulling his gaze away.
“Let’s go back to the company.”
“Yes, Mr. Sinclair.”
Anathea stayed in the hospital overnight, but she didn’t sleep at all As the first light of dawn crept in, her phone rang.
It was Hannah, her voice full of worry. “Thea, are you okay? I saw the trending news last night.”
Gregory carrying her away in front of everyone had caused a huge scene online. When Hannah had seen it, she’d almost dropped her phone in shock.
“I can’t believe Gregory acted that fast!”
